I think the most amazing part of the game was that Orpik and Cooke were two of the 8 players that didn't receive a penalty.

Self fagtag?

But Philly fans should ask me to post this every game

please keep this up.

They're going to be in a world of trouble once they run into a team that isn't suiting up a Shooter Tutor or a team that isn't suiting up six cones on the backend. Which is funny, because Hal Gill has been out all playoffs.

"world of trouble" huh, seems like an exaggeration.

It's not like either team is playing that well. It's just that Fleury has had the uncanny ability to outsuck Bryz so far. Maybe world of trouble is exaggeration but, yeah, they need to step up their defensive game because they're not going to be averaging 6 goals against any of Boston or New York, should those two both advance.

Every Pens D man who isn't Orpik has been awful and Fleury has been beyond awful, that said these are still crazy offensive outputs. In short, I don't expect to see 7 and 8 goal multiple hat trick performances in the next series, but the offense is really clicking right now and I don't expect it to just wither against a good defensive team.

The Pens offense conversely is still really, really good and Bryz has only been a problem in about 4 of the 94 Pittsburgh goals so far. Out of our D-men Coburn, who I traditionally dislike has been amazing and Grossmann has been very effective for the most part. Couturier's line shutting down Malkin's line so far is pretty interesting, although it would be wasted on the Bs as they don't have a top line (I'm kidding again and now feel the need to announce it).

They really don't though, so I wouldn't take umbrage with that comment. I guess you could say the Krejci line is the first but, especially since Horton is out, I feel that line and Bergeron's are more of a 1a and 1b depending on whichever line brings it that night. Bergeron and Marchand are generally more reliable but Krejci and Lucic have higher upside. Seguin often has the same problems as Krejci and Lucic and Peverly is a nice complimentary player but more of a 2/3 IMO, though he does have the ability to ably fill in on one of those lines.

Shanahan was on with Boomer & Carton this morning and did absolutely nothing to dispel the notion that he's a fucking buffoon.

From a serious POV, he's going down a very slippery slope when he ties length of suspension to injury.

He is a buffoon and a moral degenerate. I think the Craig Janney Story needs to be tossed in his face every time he makes a public appearance. How can a guy who broke the quintessential rule of team sports be left to stand in judgment of other players? Granted, his was off ice conduct and he is merely judging the actions of players on the ice, but still, does anyone think Jeff Carter or Eric Lindros will ever have a job in the corporate office? The exceptions that are made for Shanny are unbelievable. He makes me miss Colin Campbell, who was utterly corrupt, but at east was recognized for being completely corrupt.

Looks like Alfredson is a go tonight. Sens calling him a game-time decision but he passed all the tests & skated with the team this morning.

That might've been the dirtiest hockey I've ever seen. That cross-check could've literally killed Schenn.

I think it was a pretty successful debut for Kreider.

He looked good in transition & in the offensive end but a little lost in his own end -very timid, trying not to make a mistake.

I also don't think the Sens knew how big he is, they tried to pop him a couple of times and it barely effected him.

If the Caps won last night, I bet it would've been enough to lure back OJ.

He came out of hiding (that he went into about 19 BC hockey games ago) to talk about the Caps on TOS.

Will the NHL let the automatic one-game suspension to Backstrom that resulted from his match penalty stand, or will they rescind it? Regardless, that was dumb of him. It's seems that the Caps habitually cross-check people in the face.

Jack Edwards was a joke (beyond what he normally is) last night, comparing Ovechkin's hit in the last couple of seconds to what Weber did.

Any news on the fallout of Sunday's scrums?

Shanahan.

I agree it was probably justified. Backstrom has played extremely well and with the puck against the boards and 5 seconds on the clock, what exactly does that play accomplish?

It was fun listening to those NESN homers backpedal about Ovie's tap during that last couple seconds. Wonder what Lucic has planned for Alzner.

Hearings are at 10, so sometime after that. Adams got the automatic one game suspension and Blysma the automatic coaches fine for a fight in the last 5 minutes or whatever.

Adams and Asham blow and I frankly don't care if their suspended. I'd like to see Rinaldo tee up and bruise Neal's brain a little though, so I won't be crushed if he doesn't get suspended.

It's funny that Neal has two separate hearings today. He reminds me of (a slightly more talented) Lucic in that he's generally a menace. My guess is that announcements regarding Philly/Pitt will come down early this afternoon followed by an annoucement regarding Backstom shortly thereafter. Also, I wonder if the lack of supplemental discipline for Weber will make it more difficult to uphold the Backstom match-penalty suspension.
