They actually had a decent season given everything they lost. Anyone who watches that program closely can tell Bennett has it on the right track. I wouldn't vote for him for COY, but he's definitely in the top half of coaches in the conference. (not that it's saying that much given some of the losers coaching in the ACC)

Who would Teddy pick to win a game if Team A's coach was Roy Williams and Team B's coach was Steve Lavin?

Someone help me here, how the hell did Roy Williams win this award over Brownell or Donahue?

Also, Seth Greenberg got a vote? Seriously?

I can see Roy Williams. His team was at the bottom of the ACC last year and now they're #7 and regular season ACC champions.

Seth Greenberg? Shit. Got me.
I like BC basketball.

UNC did go from a 5-11 10th place finish last year to a 14-2 regular season conf champs and top 10 ranking so its not that hard to understand. Whether you think he is a good coach or not, if you just base it on results it make sense. Brownell and Donahue both had nice seasons and Donahue obviously made chicken salad out of chicken shit with the roster he has, but they still both finished 9-7, which is good, but not spectacular.

+2

And to answer the question: Roy, half of Lavin's players would be ineligible.

It's tough to coach all those Mickie D's All-Americans...Roy will tell you that.

Donahue got something out Josh Southern...debate over.

I like Donahue as much as the next guy, just saying that it's asinine to eliminate guys for COY because they've recruited really good players is all. You could sub K for Roy if you want.

But it does need to be accounted for, due to the school's name recognition having recruiting value in and of itself. It should probably hold a lot of weight. E.G. Doherty, who totally licked donkey taint, had a class with May, McCants and Felton.

I'm sure this has been debated previously ad nauseum.

All I'm saying is that it shouldn't in and of itself be a disqualification.

Here's an interesting question: should recruiting ability be a factor in COY voting?

More pressing questions include:

Does an ACC basketball tournament championship make you an NCAA basketball tournament lock?
Does Al Skinner own a Barcalounger?
Does Kevin Rogers love Virginia Tech?
Is Greensboro an optimal bachlor party location?

How does Andre Williams rank all-time among BC running backs?
Why is TRE always banning 74 and then fagtagging him over at EI?
