Before that run, I thought that team was the biggest underachieving team in BC history. They should have made the NCAAs the year before, but didn't. Then they were up something like 17 at home against UConn and still found a way to lose. Then they got absolutely crushed by Georgetown in the Big East tourney, who weren't even that good that year.
They were all-but-dead against Washington State, and then Danya Abrams, a freshman at the time, made a great hustle play early in the second half to save a ball. Somehow that woke up the other players a bit and all of a sudden they played great the rest of the way until the last 5 minutes against Florida. It was a tremendous run.
Howard Eisley is one of the most-underrated BC players.
I watched the UNC game in a bar here in California with about 20 others, all die-hard Tar Heel fans. I will never forget the feeling when their final shot stayed out.
