For BC. I can't see us losing by double digits to Clemson. I think Clemson's pretty over-rated.

I can. Gamblor has you in his claws if you're betting using emotion on a Jekyll and Hyde team.

Which is the Jekyll and Hyde team?

You're right. Both - meaning even more chance for dispersions.

Don't hate. Lots of people bet coinflips.

Neither of you were economics or statistics majors in college apparently. Would you bet on a coin flip if you knew you had a 60% chance of winning? If it were a pick-em game then yea, coin flip. Getting 10 points is completely different if you think the teams are even. I'll give Clemson 3 for home court advantage so you're still up 7.

And lots of people are idiots.

I love the blank look on people's faces when they ask if I bought SB squares. I say no because I don't have a choice and it's a random drawing - I only put money down when I can use knowledge to draw and advantage through choice. If the sole purpose is to make the event interesting, then by all means...go for it if it's worth it to you. As for me, I find sufficient entertainment in most sporting events themselves, plus I prefer to try and make money when I bet. /rant.

You're confusing the issue. #1 your emotion is vested in BC which may affect how you feel about the line and #2 both teams have been wildly inconsistent to the point that even if I was a neutral I'd stay away.

Obviously if you know the teams are even or think that they are more even than the line (increasing the chances in your mind), then you do it. I'm saying that emotion and inconsistency makes what you think in your mind less likely to be true.

I don't equate trying to increase your chances at profit with being a control freak. Simply because games where you can manipulate the odds to your advantage are the ones you can control certain elements doesn't make you a control freak.

There's also the fact that three points seems like a ridiculously small amount to give for homecourt @ Littlejohn, particularly given BC's historical terribleness at that venue. I happen think the line is just about right.

i bet you like to go to the mall in november and tell all the kids waiting in line that there is no santa claus and they should spend more time kissing their parents' ass if they want the rocketcar on their list because you find sufficient entertainment in decorating your own tree
