BC/Dook 26 Minute Knockout Thread

Postby EagleDave on Mon Jan 24, 2011 12:21 am

Here's my best shot at being optimistic...

Ummm...theoretically if we get hot from 3 we could make this interesting. They need everyone healthy though. If the flu bug is going to continue to ravage the team, they might have a tough time fielding anything better than an intramural squad for this one. In HD, Trapani looked like he was going to die on the court.

whatever this flu is it looked horrible. biko looked like he was going to die just because he had to sit in an upright position for an extended period. Trap looked terrible too.

You may as well starting focusing on the game next Tuesday against UNC. This could get ugly.

Donahue should probably just focus on preventing bear attacks and finding out what kinds of dogs are in Cameron.

2 things need to happen:

1) they need to shoot 3 pointers like they're all Jimmy Chitwood.
2) Southern needs to somehow turn into an aggressive basketball player down low and bang, bruise, block, and go up strong on offense. I know this sounds like an impossible task considering Southern's track record, but Donahue needs to somehow motivate him to take advantage of Duke's only weakness...their lack of low post presence.

What we need is spaz at the helm to prevent this from being a 76 second knockout.

Run the 4 Corner offense and just chuck a half court shot at the end?

We're going to need some points. More points than Duke.

I want to be optimistic, but I do not believe we will win this game. If we had beaten FSU or even lost to them by less than 16 points I might say we have a chance. But I think we have about a 39% chance of winning.

At BC we'd have a chance. At Cameron we're going to get destroyed.

No one is going to punish BC for losing at Cameron but it makes the home game coming up with UNC absolutely crucial because the schedule eases up a little after that (i.e. we don't play Duke or FSU again)

Duke would destroy us no matter where we played. At BC we'd have a chance to keep it under 20.

Carolina is waaaaay more winnable because they're Carolina in name only. Not to mention it's a home game and the only skilled size they have is Zeller (and that's a stretch). If Jackson can stay in front of Drew (like last year) and the freshman, I dare say that they win that game comfortably. Unless Harrison Barnes remembers how to play basketball, there isn't a ton of overwhelming talent on that sideline.

I agree with you that Carolina is a far more winnable game than Duke, both becuase Carolina is not nearly as good as Duke and it's a home game that will likely actually draw crowd due to the name. There is however a ton of talent on that Carolina team. They are very young and have not figured out how to play together, but a lack of talented players is not their problem.

I think playing a 3-4 with a steady blitz may help avoid a 76 second knockout. :ignign

Something about the name "Plumlee" and the fact that there are so many of them going to Dook makes me want to choke somebody out.

While it has the mass of an adult burmese python, I don't tend to think of it as a "somebody". So no.

Not unlike the game at Cameron last year. They were in that game for the first 15 minutes or so before they got their doors blown off. I expect a similar game.

Stevie D is like Jimmy Johnson of the Cowboys..

The first few years they were destroyed and then he got good players and the Hershel Walker deal.

Stevie D gets one more big recruiting load and some big guys and BC will finally get there.

I'd give recruiting a solid B. Can't argue with a B+ though. Bring in 1 ESPN Top 100 kid per year and we'll be ok.
