Great to only be down two at half after that kind of offensive performance. Hopefully the Steve can draw up something new at halftime.

Yeah, have no idea what Jackson was doing there. Got lucky with the foul.

At the half, down 2 with Jackson only scoring 3. I think I'd take that, feeling good at where we are at in this game.

Joe Trapani needs to have the flu more often. 14-7 is a pretty good halftime statline against this team.

By the way... Two key players with a stomach flu? Coincidence?

Kevin Neghandi should stick to SportsCenter.

Rubin doesn't belong on the floor when they face a team that scares the shit out of him. He is passing on wide open threes and turning it over.

This game is not looking good. Rubin turtling, no one else shooting except Trapani, and Jackson forced to play PG. Not a good recipe against this team. They are too athletic for Raji to be effective on the boards, and Southern has disappeared again.

That said, FSU is so inept offensively, they will keep BC in it.

Who would have thought that multiple games this season would turn on whether or not Biko Paris was playing? I just wish he had developed into this player a bit sooner.

Truth is that FSU has everybody scared into trying to do something they can't do. They think the defender is coming out to block the three, when in fact they close out and break down to prevent dribble penetration. BC plays right into their hands. JUST SHOOT THE BALL.

BC can't win this game unless they stop thinking too much and start shooting more of those threes. They are open - FSU is actually playing good D by stopping penetration, not blocking. Just shoot over them.

Two plays in a row where Rubin hesitates on a three. One he fakes then takes a falling-away behind-the-basket jumper. Another he gets happy feet and still almost makes it.

It's games like this you realize how few ACC players we have on the roster. Rubin and Dunn should never see the floor. Southern is serviceable, but still not what you need down low in the ACC. If FSU had offense this wouldn't be close.

Agree that shooters seem scared.

Elmore doesn't even pretend he is going to shoot. I have never seen a team pass up so many open threes. JUST SHOOT THE DAMN BALL.

I don't get this at all. It's like someone told them that they won't be able to get their shot off because FSU will block it. Except FSU closes out instead, and Rubin and Elmore become retarded turnover machines.

we can't win games without a full roster. we are too depleted to begin with. simply not enough talent or depth to go on the road in conference and win without the starting senior point guard.

Even if that last take by Reggie didn't fall, that is what he has to do for the rest of the game. Unless he puts this on his shoulders its over

We can't hurt them inside 15 feet, and they know it. Going hard to the rim plays right into their hands, because Jackson is the only guy who has a hope of finishing against their interior defense. Gotta start running, don't let them set up.

And it would be nice if we made foul shots, especially since we're in the bonus now.

Edit: They're also helped by the fact that over the last 5-6 minutes, Snaer could apparently shoot it left handed without looking while running down the tunnel, and it would go in.

In what has been a surprisingly (to me) good start to the season, Dallas Elmore is a huge, huge black mark. Everyone else on the team seems to have gotten better, and he's gotten three times worse. He's literally useless on the court right now.

Someone needs to tell Bob Valvano that not all passing is great ball movement. There is such a thing as overpassing. This game is Exhibit A.

BINGO. I'd add over dribbling as well. The last three from Trapani was a great example, just shoot the fucking ball, they aren't going to block it.

Not having Paris makes them inept. Reggie has to go to the point, Trapani has to be the target for his passes on the perimeter, since the rest of these guys won't shoot, which keeps him out of the paint. Add in that Raji can't play his game against teams with a half decent front line, and you are left with Reggie feeding Trapani as the only chance of scoring.

I agree wholeheartedly, and add: Even if they do block it, who gives a shit? Unless you're shooting from the top of the key, it's really difficult for a defense to block a three-pointer and get possession.

No Biko no W.... :whiteflag

They were most likely gonna get worn down, anyway, but huge 6 point swing at the beginning of the 2nd half when Elmore missed a wide open three that probably would have been Biko's look...FSU looks like a team you don't want to draw in March

Biko or no Biko, they sabotaged themselves with all the missed free throws and the over dribbling. They were fortunate that FSU was pretty miserable offensively for the first 30 minutes. If they play even half as bad against Duke, they'll be lucky to escape without losing by 40.

this is true. We actually played pretty well as a team (considering Reggie did nothing) up until a little while into the second half, when we got tired. We would get tired defending a team like this with our full roster, but missing a guy hurts. I also think that Biko takes a lot of stress off of Reggie because even though Moton has been playing better, he isn't a strong enough ballhandler to do penetration dribbles down the baseline and find open men. Reggie does a lot of his scoring when playing off ball, but Moton, by no fault of his own, is simply not ready to be an ACC point guard. He might in the future but not now.

I didn't see a minute of this game but we were never going to beat FSU. We're going to get absolutely destroyed against Duke and then probably again against UNC. Having no size makes these teams just impossible to beat.
