Second half odds...

Lakers -3.5 @ -160. Implies real-time moneyline for the whole game is now close to EVEN. Celtics are now favorites to win having started the game at +250.

Note to the fucking Celtics. Stop trying to feed Allen. He sucks tonight. Get the fuck over it. His D has been excellent - take what you can get. Get a clue.

Awful rebounding.

Not enough offense.

Somebody needs to come up big on offense in the 4th or this will be a heartbreak. That somebody will likely not be Ray Allen.

:suicide

Rondo, Pierce, Garnett. Feed Garnett in low. He's the only one I have confidence in right now.

Ugly game.

Incredibly ugly. I have no confidence we can score more than 10 points for the rest of this game.

Somehow, we still have the lead.

Sick!!!

Artest came up huge and why did the Celtics not crash the offensive boards and let Kobe get 15+ rebounds mostly defensive?

Wallace shoulda been shooting not Allen?

Strange game.

Why did Rondo wait all game to shoot from the outside?

Celtics awful rebounding + Ray Allen = Lakers Win

This sucks!!! Perk's absence hurt tonight.

74, gotta give it to you. Stellar handicapping record during the playoffs.

This Celtics loss is a big kick in the teeth.

Awful way to go down...the Celtics will be seeing this game in their nightmares for the rest of their lives...

The Big Three (redux) era ends in a gag job...absolutely terrible.

Celtics pulled a Spaz right there, turtled up the entire second half. That's what you get for not crushing a team when you had the chance

...and the officiating was not good tonight at all

Lakers took as many in the 4th quarter as the Celtics did all game. Can't point to Ray Allen as the reason for the Celtics' loss when Kobe goes 6 for fucking 24.

It's hard to blame the officials for this one. The game did border on "Sacramento-LA Game 6" territory for awhile, but most of them were justified I thought. There were a couple of bad calls that should never have been made (the 2 weak touch fouls on Glen Davis, when they were allowing Gasol to clobber everyone the whole game), and Gasol got away with an over the back and an up and down violation at 2 crucial moments. But, otherwise this one hangs on the C's and their Simmons dubbed "clogged toilet offense".

They got bogged down in isolations far too often in the 2nd half because Ray couldn't hit water falling out of a boat most of the game. Rasheed was their best offense most of the game, and he was a warrior last night, but he just didn't have enough gas down the stretch to finish that game, so that forced even more isolations. Combine that with the fact that the Lakers jumped the pick and rolls really well and the lack of awareness by Pierce to hit the open man out of the double and you've got a recipe for an offensive drought.

It may be a long time before we see the Celtics in the Finals again, so hopefully everyone enjoyed the ride.

Awful rebounding and once we got in foul trouble in the fourth…. I couldn’t watch, we wasted way to many possession taking bad shots or wasted 3 pointers :whiteflag :bag :suicide

Dave-

Garnett played well but you have Wallace, Allen and Pierce...

Let say you keep all 4 and 2 or 3 at lower cap rates and get a free agent and a scorer.

That is a lotta depth-veteran cheap and you may be back sooner than you think?? like Next year, if the Knicks do not get 2,

I'm not sure what was more of a factor in this series. The fact that TWB is always wrong or that I'm always right. In the end the Celtics shouldn't have gotten past round two let alone get to game 7 in the finals. The Lakers were clearly the better team, but hats off to the Celtics for making them at least work for it.

I can't see why Ainge would break up this team, they were a couple better offensive possessions away from a Championship. If Rasheed retires that frees up that Cap Space and I think they still have a mid-level exception under the Cap. You add another defensive center (maybe even Alobi from FSU) and an athletic wing player to compliment Tony Allen and this team will be right back in the Finals next year. A PG not named Nate Robinson would also be one of my requests.

With the # 19 pick in the NBA Draft, the Boston Celtics Select Solomon Alobi (or whoever you spell that): Center Florida State

By the next Finals:

Allen = 35
Pierce = 33
KG = 35
Sheed = 36

That's why.

The other reason aside from age is that this team clearly maxed out in the playoffs. It feels a little like the '02 ECF where everyone was excited because they went down swinging against New Jersey and they were a legitimate contender in the (very weak at the time) Eastern Conference. But the truth was they had reached their limit, and weren't good enough as is to go further. This particular C's team has reached its peak. They need to knock it down and rebuild. Trade KG for what you can get for him, let Ray Allen walk, Sheed will hopefully retire, and Pierce plays out his contract next year and retires as well. It's the quickest way to clear cap space and rebuild around Rondo without having to do it over the course of 10 years through the draft. If they were to pull that off, they might be able to lure Carmelo Anthony out of Denver in '11.
