Good news! We now have enough scholarships filled in 2011 that BC can actually put 5 scholarship players on the floor.

After looking at this were going to need to recruit a lot of PF and C in this class we have no height.

In addition to Clifford, it looks like the staff is targeting big--at least tall--guys. My concern isn't so much height as it is size. As much as I like shooters, I hope we land some legit post players, which have been missing since 2006. From what I've read on the recruiting thread and other articles, it appears that's Captain D's top priority.

Did Al ever have any of these type of camps before? Seems like a good way to evaluate some new talent.

This is very exciting and even though new coaches tend to signal rebuilding years I even expect big things for our team even next year. Now we have 11 scholarship players with 9 eligible to play this season. Furthermore, we now have eight scholarship players for the year after and with how hard Donahue has been working and the players he is recruiting I think BC can do big things. My guess is that Donahue now can try to bring in some of the stars from the elite camp for 2011 and 2012. We'll see how these next few seasons go but I know he has been working hard and I really like the team we have fielded despite Skinner's recruits all damping out. From what I hear, he has been working really hard with the players who have stayed from last year just shortly after he took the head coaching position which is a great sign.

Is 2010-11 full scholarship-wise? Will those last two roster spots have to go to walk-ons?

I must say, I had my doubts and worries when he was going after Odio-types. No offense to Eddie Odio. Hell, he could be the next Dudley. (Remember, recruits and parents read these boards.) But, I am more at ease now that he is pursuing some bigger talents. He is all over the place filling this roster. I can't say any other coach we went after would do what he did. Great hire.

McG, can you put height on the chart? that would be a nice add.

This is my question/concern as well.

It seems that most of the buzz and focus has been on the Class of 2011. So what do we do for next year? Just bank those extra two slots?

Are there any Class of 2010 players that are good and that SD is still trying to bring in here?

During this tournament, the announcers always talk about how Rubin is a walk-on? Does that mean we still have an extra scholarship instead of giving him one?

I said this last week or the week before... i'm pretty sure he's a walk-on. Now that he's a starter i'm not sure if that matters though. If he does well throughout the season I'd imagine he earns a schollie.

I've been wondering the same thing. The announcers said he was a preferred walk-on for Colgate and then Donahue asked him to come to BC. I was under the impression that Rubin is a scholarship player. I hadn't heard anything about him being a walk-on until the Old Spice tournament.

I believe he's a preferred walk-on.

I added Jordan Daniels and also took off Rubin. I can add Rubin again if we get some confirmation that he's been awarded a scholarship.

I'm glad we got Daniels because I regarded a PG in 2011 as almost an absolute necessity, but six scholarship freshmen in 2011 really puts a squeeze on scholarship distribution. I think both Rubin and Kilcullen will have to remain walk-ons if we expect to straighten things out this decade. As it is, we only have seven total scholarships for the next three years. If we make them all count and get seven solid players, we can bank a couple of scholarships when we replace the 2011 class and start to flatten the bulge. All this began, of course, with the recruitment of the present senior class, which looked great at the time but has conspicuously failed to justify the distortion of scholarship distribution.

75% of the problem of our scholarship distribution is changing coaches. 25% of it is that stellar recruiting class Al brought in 2009.

It is exciting to think that Rubin is one of four contributors we're returning next year, though. I'm gonna go start a rumor that BC doesn't give scholarships to jews

Leaving aside the repulsiveness of such a rumor, it's too easy to disprove by pointing to past counterexamples; we even had a scholarship player from Israel in the 80's.

too late...

I feel like we should have a new thread titled "Jewish Ballers."

For the skeptics, even if it could be written on a pamphlet (see Airplane), there a few good jewish hoops players: farmar, walk, stoudemire. Apparently head honcho David Stern is jewish too.

Oh yeah, and BC alum Bruce Pearl is jewish, then again he doesn't exactly represent BC or Judaism very well.

With Reggie and Elmore gone we now have an 8-scholarship roster for 2011-2012. Plus 3 walk-ons with Rehnquist, Rubin and Kilcullen.
