They're both signed, so I'm going to leave them there for now. I'm not buying the Ndao academics story. Harvard was recruiting him, so how bad could the situation be. I think they might be more concerned with his ability on the court than in the classroom.

There used to be a "5-8" rule where you could only sign 5 players each year, and 8 in a two-year period. I thought the NCAA got rid of that.

Could Donahue patch with jucos? Or perhaps bring in a flyer like the football team is doing with the Framingham State kid? Someone who gets overlooked in recruiting and overperforms at a lower level? Doing something like this might let you compete for a year while you bring in your own guys. Years ago Jim Boylan transferred to Marquette from Assumption College (where his brother Mike was a D-2 All-American); Jim Boylan would up as Butch Lee's backcourt partner on Al McGuire's 1977 national championship team at Marquette.

In a fit of irony, Dean Smith wound up sending Boylan on to the coach who would wind up beating UNC in the final:

One of the key players on that team was a local (for me in New Jersey) player by the name of Jim Boylan. He was a tough take charge point guard who honed his craft on the playgrounds of Jersey City. Boylan attended St.Mary’s High School and later signed on at Division II Assumption. In a twist of irony North Carolina coach Dean Smith had a hand in getting Boylan to Marquette. Assumption was a good school and several Hudson County players, liked Boylan, played there over the years. Boylan however wanted to test his ability at a higher level. He contacted UNC’s Smith. Dean told him that he was set at the guard spot but would put a word in for him to Al McGuire.

Memphis has 7 recruits for 2010. I dont know if that means 1 will have to redshirt or something but all 7 are signed.

I dont mind the cupboard being bare in basketball its much different then football since you have flexibility in positions, also we are returning enough guys that its Donahue on year 2 and 3 which will be rough. Hopefully he puts a how on next year that brings in some recruits asap and it will be a big class. You never know 2 spectacular recruits can carry a team to a few wins.

We should try to get Rutgers guard Mike Rosario...The guy is a prolific scorer and a pretty good shooter...I'm sure he would thrive in Donahue's system...He was also a McDonald's All American, not that it really means anythings...It appears he is already being recruited by Florida....no reason we can't try...

Fear not my fellow Eagles..Look at Jerry York's first few years until he found his kids and his strides.

It will be easie in hoops with 2 solid big men and a point guards.

This kids will win 5 games alons from being run to death and having no Rakim the BongHead prick on board.

The ranks are thinning. For better or worse, Donahue certainly has an opportunity to work with a clean slate and build his own program here.

Depth is going to be a serious problem next year. Hopefully everyone remembers in two years that he essentially inherited a team with one returning player.
