Nice. This makes me genuinely excited to see what they can do with 7 schollies.

This is as big for the recruiting side as Donahue is for the Xs and Os. Guy gets to make an instant impact with 10 open schollies over the first 2 years.

Pretty sure they have to bank one under the NCAA rules.

Don't know much about Jones' recruiting at Nova...but everyone seems to think he is a big get...what's his story?

This guy has recruited in the tough racket of Philly for Nova, and then in NYC. Can't ask for a better resume for what he'll be assigned to do here at BC. This is really awesome stuff. Exciting.

He brought in the players that Wright built his career at Hofstra on. Then he joined Lappas at Nova, and stayed when they hired Wright. My understanding is that his last class was the class with Ray and Foye.

Regardless, I made a call to somebody that knows the Jones brothers through the coaching profession (moreso his brother, who is the HC at Yale) and he has nothing but great things to say about the dude.

yeah, from what I've read, Jones was in charge of recruiting for Jay Wright Nova, and also with Lappas before that. Not too shabby.

Nova grad I know says that even though he was at Columbia at the time, Jones is responsible for Reynolds ending up at Nova.

One thing I'll say about the all Ivy coaching staff... Gene either took his paws off or Donahue successfully pushed to hire who he wanted. As I mentioned previously, Jones is somewhat unique as both he and Gene worked together at Villanova.

Make sure you counter with their hilariously original and not at all worn out nickname "Villa-no-fun."

It'll be HIGH-larious.

Even though it looks like Duquette was strung along a bit, I do think it is best that Donahue got to hire his own staff.

Doesn't seem that way based on Reggie's comments in the Herald. Seems like it was clear to the players anyways that the staff would be replaced entirely.

Doing a little research on this, it appears that Jones got Nova into DC as well.

It took effort to entrench the Villanova brand into the consciousness of Washington's top players. Wright said the signing of Anderson started the pipeline. The Wildcats were considering a handful of players when Anderson was a junior at St. John's in 2002-03. Joe Jones, then an assistant at Villanova, continued to raise Anderson's name. Jones had heard of Anderson from a Washington area AAU coach and was impressed with Anderson and his family.

"I thought he was a high-character kid," said Jones, now the head coach at Columbia. "Did I imagine him as tough as he has become? No. But I thought he would be able to help the program."

While recruiting Anderson, the Wildcats got themselves on Cunningham's radar because he and Anderson teamed together at St. John's. Commitments from two local prospects -- combined with a run to a region final in the 2006 NCAA tournament -- enhanced the luster of the Wildcats' program. Wright spoke at camps in the Washington area and established connections, in turn leaving an impression on both players and coaches.

I love Stevie D.

74 has given him a new name.

STEVIE D.

D as in already dominating.

Lazy Elvis's line score at Rec Plex Today.

18- 7- 10

Records just keep falling....

By the way they did not have i-phones in 1948...so there!!!

So you think you can fool 74!

It was the same phone as in my uncles house now...

this is good stuff. guy seems like a shark recruitier. This gets me more excited than any other aspect of the hire. Recruiting is priority 1A for the BC program. (not to say SD cannot make a strong run with what we have coming back next year. I think he can).

It's always upset me that I wasn't around TZS for this. I've been told the joke, but I figure it's one of those things that is only really funny if you were there for it.

Great hire. I can't believe I'm saying this, but the BC athletic department did a great job hiring Donahue who then did a great job hiring staff. BC basketball will be exciting, folks.
