FEAST ON THE TEARS OF DORKS

On the Cornell Daily Sun's website.

Why Steve? Why?

I had so much respect for you. I thought you, of all people, understood the potential of the ivy league, the potential of Cornell. You lead us to such great heights and now, when the future looks ominous, you are scared.

I was wrong. I am more naive than I thought. You're a sell out. One. Big. Sell out.

Coach! You're leaving us after giving us the best season in the history ? WHY ? Can't Cornell do something to keep him here ? This is quite distressing.

I think it's refreshing that an Ivy Leaguer is so passionate about their hoops team.

But, c'mon. Ivy League or ACC? Is that really a choice?

Is he really complaining that a man who led an IVY league team to the Sweet 16 is leaving to coach in the ACC? Unbelievable.

No tears. Both teams agreed that since they all had a good time and strengthened the bonds of friendship amongst each other, everyone was a winner and then they had orange slices and hit the library.

"We're such fans of coach Donahue that we're BC fans now. We want to see him do well."
-Cornell guard Louis Dale

"I told the folks at BC that they made a great hire. He's a terrific person," Noel said. "We're very sad to lose him. ... Our university really wanted to keep Steve. I'm a little heartbroken, but we turn the page and become a BC fan forever."
-Cornell AD Andy Noel

Wait..they're not burning couches or threatening his family? Makes me wonder if there is something wrong with the hire.

Exactly stay classy BC fans, you guys are making it hard to root for you as much as I want Donahue to succeed

I agree that commenter on the Cornell Daily Sun was an idiot, probably a bandwagon fan who watched their first Cornell game when we beat Wisconsin. Honestly, who does not take a much better job that will increase their salary by 5x

Sorry Cornellfan - a lot of us still are traumatized by the BigEast, where you had to preemptively insult the other school to survive

It's also worth noting for our new friend here that we're always completely serious about everything we post and talk about at all times here...

Welcome aboard, Cornellfan. Glad to hear such great things about Donahue and am excited to see what he does here. Stick around for hockey season, too. You guys are no slouches and as someone who has sat in the townie section of Lynah Rink many times, I know you have a great tradition there.

Agreed. Don't take it personally CornellFan...we spent the better part of the last 20 years dealing with ass clowns from West Virginia who would burn couches and threaten families over something like this. The genuine (rational) emotion for Donahue on your end is very refreshing, and we're thrilled to have him here, and hope he'll lead us to greater heights (no pun intended).

It is like shooting a guy as he thinks about pulling a knife.

Cornellfan, you'll get used to it, wait until you know the posters and the 200 insides jokes that are on EVERY post.

Admit it, you are embaressed Keith Olberman says he graduated from Cornell.

Welcome Cornellfan. If you just read this board with the idea in your head at all times that "nothing is sacred," you will (hopefully) come to understand that it is very funny, has some great posters, and even from time to time some good sports discussion. Most people on here have a great deal of respect for Cornell as an institution and bear it no ill will. We're all excited about Donahue, and hope that you guys are successful in selecting your new coach.

By the way, do you think we can schedule Cornell in hoops? It would likely be win-win: you guys get a legitimate shot at beating an ACC team (since we seem to have a problem with the Ivies), and we ddon't have to keep losing to Harvard every year.

Didn't we play Cornell in basketball two seasons ago, perhaps in the preseason NIT?

I am not taking it personally at all. You are right, I am embarrassed by Keith Olberman and Ann Coulter going to Cornell

I also am hoping we can schedule you guys in a home in home, maybe we could get on tv for once

They came to Conte, but lost to St. John's in the first round...

The funny thing about that HJS is that I didnt realize my cousin was a graduate assistant at Cornell until you posted that and remembered all the special training she had to undergo about not putting as much pressure on the students. If not for those pics I wouldnt have never remembered either. Funny how the mind makes connections.

Somebody noted that Cornell played against St. John's at Conte last year...I was at the game (along with 50 other people) but I don't remember anything special about Donahue in person. Probably because 1. it was two full seasons ago (Preseason NIT) 2. I wasn't looking for anything. Anybody remember seeing anything notable that game?
