Good News, Jackson staying

Junior center Josh Southern told the Herald Tuesday that some of the Eagles’ younger players are considering transferring. A source close to Reggie Jackson said yesterday that the star sophomore guard will remain with the program.

I think we are all Jackson fans so this is good. We dont have that many other younger players (since Skinner didnt bring in any recruits one year) so its pretty easy to narrow it down.

Article also referred to some boosters clamoring for Pearl, I assume they dont mean us. So that is also good, although it says its probably not happening becuase of admission standards, I dont buy the money issue. I would at least match Tenn's salary but might limit it to 4 years.

Linky?

EDIT: Sorry Duchey, I missed the Herald reference the first time I looked at the post. Duh on me.

I think BC may be ok with the salary alone; however, you have to factor in Al's payoff (even with the offset if he gets another job) and TN's buyout.

So that narrows it down to Elmore, Ravenal, and Heslip, right?

Yes, I was thinking it was Elmore or Ravenel. Alot if going to depend on the new hire (obviously) if Pearl was in, they will fight to stay. Heslip isnt as invested yet and the other 2 may worry about PT if another coach comes in. I just hope no one is afraid the new coach will work them harder, which is a definite.

Heslip isn't going anywhere.

It's not Elmore either...he and Reggie were a package deal if I recall. Offering Elmore was a big reason why Reggie came here in the first place. I would imagine it's probably Ravenel...

Which is interesting as he was effectively buried on the bench for most of this past season behind two guys who didn't do squat. You would think Ravenel would like a clean slate with a new coach.

Don't see Elmore going anywhere. He's engaged to one of the volleyball players so there's another reason for him to stay.

I assume it's Ravenel, kid was academically ineligible after his first semester here and apparently isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

Ravenel doesn't exactly seem like the kind of guy who would be thrilled at playing in a new, up-tempo system, if you catch my drift. meaning he's fat like Chris Huang and Big Pete

I wish half of Southern's class would consider transferring, him included.

Jackson staying is good news. It's too bad Southern and Paris didn't leave with Skinner. They should play as much as the managers.
