While we're at it...Mike Jarvis knows the Boston area. We could bring on Patrick Ewing as an assistant coach. Or a player.

How funny would it be to go from Dudley's dad to Uncle Phil?

If GDF gives a modicrum of shit about this program, he will throw a blank check at Bruce Pearl. Season ticket holders and "voluntary Flynn Fund donations" will go up 5x overnight.

BCEagle74 {l Wrote}:What about 74's DREAM TEAM!!

Bob Knight -- Head Coach
Nolan Richardson -- Assistant Coach.

I could see GDF going to advise in practice about some issues -----and Bob throwing him off the Yawkey Roof for kicking some kids off the team for not going to class or preparation.

I could see Nolan Richardson yelling hands up, press and making them do 100 wind sprints after practice and ratsafarian green goop come flying outta their mouths and rectums and getting them in shape....

So many great coaches....Steve Alford.LOBOS..just look at the touney and others possibilities.

Could you imagine the genius of hiring Bob Knight...

..imagine the Tsunami and protests and howls and praise...it would be a circus, but BC would be getting a basketball genius and taskmaster and some kids love discipline....

..close your eyes and think about the press conference...

...the media horde....

...the recruiting...

...a perfect NCAA 40 year history....no calling cards, missed classes, higher academic standards and no recruiting violations..

...it would be such an huge event and put BC Basketball back where Cousy wanted it....

...at least IB's and Big Peter's movie script gets read by the Coen Brothers....if Knight doesn't come...

...ah to dream....

I'll take the Mack Truck first though....

Anyone know what Michael Adams is doing these days? I believe he was considered an up-and-comer when he resigned from Williams ataff at Maryland a few years ago...

I would love to have Pearl but BC is a tough sell against Tennessee. He can have criminals on his team. His son is on the team. He doesn't really have to answer to an AD. He lives like a king. He is divorced and surrounded by SEC talent. They can match or exceed any money offer we present.

This is why I think Pearl is off the table. The only thing we have going is he would get a chance to get out from under Pat Summit's shadow. Maybe that bugs him enough. I dunno.

ATLeagle {l Wrote}:74, the flex is not the problem. Did you notice Xavier running multiple flex sets last night? I know people think it is a "high school" offense, but so is the motion and you never hear anyone complain about Duke.

Also, anyone who has watched Northeastern over the last couple years knows that Coen runs significantly less flex than Skinner and doesn't run it close to as tight. It's more Maryland looking.

I would take Coen in a second if Al were to leave. He already knows what he's getting into with the school and Gene from his time here. He is also one of the hardest working people I have ever met.

I was thinking this exactly. He played at BC and has experience in the ACC under Williams including a championship. I don't think he has any head coaching experience which would work against him. I can't find anything on what he's done since he left Maryland.

Is there any chance BC might take a chance on a guy who has proven a capable assitant and a good recruiter who does not have any head coaching experience? GDF might like that becuase that type of guy would come cheaper.

If you can get Pearl or Few, you're nuts not to hire them.

After that, when I went to watch Northeastern play Mason down here, Coen seems like a good coach and a good guy. He'll know exactly what he's getting into here also. I'd probably rather have McCaffrey or the HC at Butler or Xavier, but I'd give Coen the seal of approval also.

If we hire Steve Lappas, I'll literally find another basketball program to support.

It seems like a clear echelon has developed:

No Brainers: Kruger, Pearl, Few
Improvements: Baron, McCaffrey
Boring but acceptable: Coen
Certifiable trainwrecks: Cooley, O'Shea, Duquette, Lappas

This is why I wish we had more rabid fans. If our fans cared as much as SEC football fans care about their teams, people would be posting tail numbers of private jets.

I can aassure you that Gene will only be looking at Coen and the certifable trainwreck group. One thing about Napoleon is his consistency in hiring coaches who do not perform or challenge his realm.

I don't think there will be private jets involved in any BC coaching search with Coen driving over from Huntington, Cooley driving up from CT, and Duquette walking over to Gene's office on the other side of Conte.

I think Cooley should be moved up into Coen's group. We can definitely stop even joking around about Lappas. He hasn't coached since 2005 with his train wreck at UMass. He also almost broke my tv when I saw him doing halftime on the cbssports.com games. He's not nearly as handsome as Al.
