actually that was Cortney dunn
actually, no it wasn't.
i agree with ballgame. i don't know how the hell he did it but southern played the game of his life that day.
at least defensively. He always seems to step up on the defensive end of the floor in games like that.
I've said it before, but I'll say it again: I totally agree here. Southern is dogshit - except when guys post up on him. He shows a good ability to slow down a guy, not fall for fakes, and force bad shots when post players take the back-to-the-basket route. Covering guys 8+ feet from the basket = dogshit. Help defense = dogshit. Stopping quick dribble drives or cuts to the basket = dogshit. But his low post D is solid. And that's what Hansborough loved to do, which is why Southern was semi-effective against him (Psycho T was an all-decade player after all).
What annoys me with Southern is his perplexing ineffectiveness on the offensive end. He is too slow and stiff to be a great helpside defender, but he holds his own one on one in the post, and he is a decent rebounder. What drives me nuts about him is that he has the skills to be a legit 10-12 point scorer bare minimum in the paint, and he goes up like a giant wuss that is scared to get blocked. Newsflash, Josh, you aren't going to get your shot blocked if you go strong.
