Perhaps I am wrong Al just does not like to acknowledge that his team quit in public. Here is the quote and as a long time watcher of BC basketball there are tons of examples of games where his teams showed no heart the most glaring being the final home game with Troy Bell, harvard I and II and last year's game against USC but I digress:
Every so often, Skinner shows a side people don't typically see.
The day after Boston College lost, 78-60, to N.C. State in 2006, Skinner flipped. He threw a pen. He tossed a clipboard.
"He was angry," former BC player Jared Dudley recalled. "Angry.
"The N.C. State players were talking about how they took our hearts from us. He said he had never heard someone say that about one of his teams ever in his life. I just remember him shouting, 'Never! Never again!' Throwing things and walking out."
Here is another great quote considering his teams consistently collapse in close situations in the postseason:
"But you've got to be true to yourself," Skinner said. "There's no one way to do it. For me, this is the way I've decided to handle myself, and I'm very comfortable with that."
There's a reason behind it.
"I want my players to feel the same regardless of what the situation is," Skinner said. "The more intense a situation is, I want them to be able to handle it."
