I have come to hate this sport as much as you hate all of them. You have free reign to offer top 10 salary. Who do hire?

I’m at a loss as to what I’d do. Only person I can think of is the guy who already will never be fired as Celtics-coach-for-life. Outside of that, might as well go cheap to easily move on when they fail. Note that “cheap” is still more than most everyone outside of Power 5 gets paid.

I’m saying, for my money, it just doesn’t matter. we could reanimate john wooden and no one would notice, because it doesn’t matter. We could hire bob knight and any chairs he threw would only hit empty seats because there won’t be fans there. But it doesn’t matter. We could bring in john calapari and his bag men and rule breaking and it wouldn’t matter. And even, and even if we bring in Brad stevens, in spite of his designation as emperor for life of the Celtics, HAH! Even if we get Brad. Even if under Brad we play so far over our heads that our noses bleed for a week to ten days. Even if God in Heaven above comes down and points his hand at our side of the court. Even if every man, woman and child held hands together and prayed for us to win, it just wouldn't matter, because all the really good players and fans would still go to dook and carolina cause they've got all the basketball history. I’m largely right there with you. The only hesitation I have is a harkening back to the 90s and Skinner. Back when no one could tell on TV that the upper decks were screaming for Bluto because the audio only picked up was the hiss of EA-posters’ oxygen tanks. BC has been relevant (not in a dozen years) but some history is there.

I think if we could somehow eradicate a coach (who is totally NOT on the hot seat) from his indentured elvii-teddy fingercuff, I could see the nerds showing up to take selfies of themselves attending maskless events. And, if it likely didn’t work, whelp... we tried and can go back to giving mid-major coaches multi-million dollar rewards for being good guys.

The only hire that would make BC relevant is someone that would create controversy (like Pitino). It’s not about being relevant. It’s about getting back to winning 20 games a year.
