It’s frustrating seeing Chris Herren Jr. out there. I don’t understand why he’s getting time.

Handling the the rock like they have an allergy. Mitchell in particular looks sleepy.
Thornton is some baller though.

I can’t decide whether the end of yesterday’s football game was worse than the beginning of today’s basketball game. This has been a pretty pathetic performance so far. Does anyone know how to rebound?

I think Jared Hamilton actually has some redeeming qualities, but they need to stop him from shooting 3's, he hasnt been close the few attempts he's made

he's freaky athletic and has an unbelievable amount of confidence offensively...
nice to see the defense from game 1 has carried over, guards are really pressuring the ball over half court

Heath will probably want to purge this game from his memory. Just a ton of freshman mistakes.
Pop's jumper is pure today.
Thornton has a ton of swagger. I'm a bit worried he'll get himself into trouble at some point this season--but I think it has given the team some moxie it has been sorely lacking.

Did somebody grease the ball? What is this?

Good win. We can't turn the ball over like that again though. I hope Jairus is back soon for depth.
Thornton is playing very very well.

Great win for the team. And yes Claver, I do give a shit. But I will not take the Lord's name in vain.

I’ve said this repeatedly over the years... Jim is a good X’s and O’s coach. This is the best team he’s had, and they play good (bordering on very good) defense sort-of picking up from their flashes of defensive aptitude last year.
I’m not looking at this 2-0 start vs reasonably respectable competition and forming the opinion off of that. You can see it on the court in the way they play. It’s noticeable. They care and everyone seems to know their role.
I feel like this is a 8/9 seed tournament team. But the year is long

We don't have the wheels to be an 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament. You easily forget what a gauntlet the ACC is (especially with BCs awful schedule this year).

Can this team, as it's currently constructed, win 16 or so games to get into the NIT at the bare minimum? Personnel-wise, I think it's possible. But any long-term injuries will kill those ambitions, imo.

This team is more than capable of winning 20. Probably wont happen.

20 is the absolute upside with this squad. Remember we play Duke x2, UVA v2, UNC, Lville & Cuse x2.
They're going to have nights where they really struggle to score the ball.

getting out of the tuesday acc tourney special would be a nice accomplishment, would probably also mean we're squarely on the bubble
agreed we're going to go through stretches where it's tough to score, can't afford an injury to any of the guards either. thornton is going to go 38+ a night & he pushes himself on d unlike ky & jerome

Looking at the depth I’m really wondering why we didn’t hear anything about a waiver for MAL. Having the additional guard depth would be huge for this team.
Either way, we looked really bad against USF and won. That wouldn’t have happened most other nights in the last 10 years. The defense is much improved. If we’re healthy we can be on the bubble.

i believe bc did apply for one (because why not) but obviously not approved. i don't think there's a rhyme or reason as to who gets a waiver and who doesn't

Agreed with eepstein0.
Where they really have to step it up, is OOC. 20 games in conference, they will be lucky to win 10. That is it. We are looking for half. With this squad, we can't expect anymore than that. OOC, they have 11 games. They need to win 10 of those 11 games. I think that might be the only way they get to 20. Then they need to win in the first round of the ACC tournament to get on the bubble at 21 wins. The math is the math.

Aggravated an old achilles issue is what I had heard. I don't believe it's supposed to be a major deal.

The team is also a bit undersized, esp if Pop isn't on the court. Might hurt us in conference play.
I had no expectations wrt Thornton, and to a lesser extent Heath/Felder/Rishwain. How many scholarships are available for next season, given that MAL's younger brother and that tall local C have verballed? 2?

I think this kid is the difference between 15 wins and tourney. Need him to be a baller. Cue Rakim Sanders comments

I’m still not sold. Even with him back I think this team struggles to win more than 3-5 acc games.
