BC Players in the NBA

Postby MilitantEagle on Sun Nov 03, 2019 5:06 pm

Not sure if a thread like this already exists. Probably not since we don’t have many, but we now have 4 in the league. Bowman got the start last night and scored 16 points on 6-11 shooting and 7 rebounds.

Reggie Jackson out at least a month.

Bowman had a tremendous game as the Warriors upset the Blazers tonight. 19 points on 9-14 shooting, plus 8 assists and 4 rebounds. He has a great opportunity with so many Warriors injured right now.

Bowman, Robinson, Jackson and Dudley all see good action on their respective teams. Only in the mid-90s has BC had 4 players in the NBA at the same time... Barros, Curley, Eisley and Adams.

I will regret this, but Nik Popovic could be a functional NBA player.

It's great for Ky and I really do think his success could help in recruiting this year. Hope he keeps it up.

This is absolutely true.

I dunno. To the extent there is chatter about him there seems to be a sense that part of his problems are injury-related and part being a function of the team he plays on. I don't think it is etched in stone, but if the NBA twitterverse is to be believed there are a few teams that would be interested in him as a two-way player or an end of the bench guy.

Jerome Robinson got traded to Washington. Ordinarily I'd say that's only good if the other option is getting traded to the Knicks, but in this case it's probably for the best. Doc Rivers clearly didn't have much interest in him, so maybe this way he can get some run and prove he belongs in the league. I don't know whether he actually does belong, but it'd be good to see him get a shot.

He was drafted at the same position in the same draft as the Shay Gilgoogly Alexander dude. Some run and a new scene could be great.

Robinson has been pretty good in the G League which suggests he's better than his stats would make it seem

Didn't see anyone mention that the Warriors recently upgraded Ky from two-way player status to a full NBA deal for the next 2 years plus the rest of this season.

He played another really good game tonight w 15 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds in a game against the Pelicans that was tight for three quarters before New Orleans blew it open late. And arguably his best play was a block where he pinned an easy-looking lay-up against the board from out of nowhere. It was a really strong all-around performance. I hope he gets some chances to play with Curry on the floor at the same time when Steph comes back in the next week or so.

Is Jared Dudley the first BC Alum to win an NBA title?

I did some research (very little) and couldn't tell if he was the first BC alum to win the title, Gerry Ward played three games for the '65 Cletics. Not sure if he got a ring or was on the playoff roster.

Dudley did an interview with Bill Simmons today and mentioned that once he's done with playing and he's worked as an NBA executive he wants to come back to BC and get things right. Not sure of his plan was realistic but it seems to fit with what we all hope he'll do.

Jared Dudley is kind of full of shit. Just saying. I'll believe it when I see it.

Reports saying Ky just got waived by the Warriors. I'm surprised looking at the guards on their current roster and given how well he played pre-Covid.

Hope he ends up in a good situation!!

What are the chances he got waived to make space for Olivier Hanlan?

Looks like part of the reason he was cut was because they were signing Brad Wanakmaker.
