I can see the argument for Reggie or Trapani, but Sanders is the most talented player on the team, and will probably play more minutes than everyone else. Trapani will likely be the only player who approaches Sanders' playing time, unless Coach Handsome gets in the habit of playing Reggie and Biko together (an idea I'm all for).

This is looking like a good team -- albeit against St. Michael's. Roche and Elmore contributing was nice.

not much ravanel though. I thought he was supposed to be the sleeper this year.

I didn't see the game so feel free to call me out here but Ravenel only played 16 minutes and had 3 fouls, so I think foul trouble may have been an issue with him. I'll also argue that the contribution from Elmore means nothing because Al won't play more than an eight man rotation anyway, so unless he unseats Tyler Roche, Elmore won't see the floor.

Good news on Jackson that's a good start for him.

sanders is the most talented (well, probably besides Jackson), but Trapani is way more consistent. I think he'll lead the team in scoring. Raji will lead in rebounds. Southern in dumb fouls. And Sanders in bad turnovers.

Reggie is probably faster than Sanders, but right now is equal or worse in every other respect. At this point Sanders can score in more ways than anyone else on the team. And yes, Sanders did have a couple of games last year where he just disappeared, but I have a feeling that will happen a lot less with a true point guard running the offense. Trapani is a nice complementary player, but is nowhere near the matchup nightmare Sanders can be.

If Reggie and Biko play together, it will be Raji that loses minutes, not Trapani or Sanders. Sanders and Trapani will each be on the floor for 32+ minutes a game, and both will score 15+/game, but Sanders will be closer to 20.

This team is going to be very, very good.

By the way, 14 assists between Biko and Reggie. Nice to have a real PG and to have the ball hog gone.

Absolutely. I meant that if those two guys play together, each of them will be closer to Sanders' minutes. Nobody on this team is taking minutes from Sanders. Only reasons he'll sit are blowouts, foul trouble or injury (God forbid).

I think Sanders will be as close to 40 per game as he can manage, and in conference play will probably average at least 35. Trapani will be somewhere in the 30-33 range. If Biko and Reggie tend to split time, they'll each be around 25, but if Al plays them together a lot they'll each play about the same minutes as Trapani.

He'll be awesome for the first 10-12 games, as usual.

The best part of the box score was the high team FT%. My thought is that's where the team misses Rice the most - who's gonna hit clutch FT's down the stretch?

Was it just me or did he always seem to miss the important ones? (Not to add to the "I hate Rice" ammo, I just thought of it when you brought it up)

I never felt that way. At least I can't remember him missing any that came back to bite the team. Maybe he missed some where they seemed important at the time but didn't actually mean much when all was said and done.
