I can only speak for 91-92 season on. But, I would say (in order):

Troy Bell
Craig Smith
Bill Curley
Jared Dudley

Reggie Jackson
Howard Eisley
Tyrese Rice
Jerome Robinson
Olivier Hanlan
*** *******

Scoonie Penn
Ryan Anderson
Ky Bowman
Uka Agbai
Ryan Sidney
Malcolm Huckaby
Sean Marshall
Louis Hinnant

After that, I'd have sentimental favorites like G.Abrams, Granger, Woodward, Maglos Berbohm, Singletary and Walls. But, none of them will be in consideration for a plaque alongside GDF.

I think Jared Dudley gets my vote for number one in the Conte Forum era. Or at least a tie with Troy. Troy won two POYs and a Big East championship, but only went to the NCAAs twice and never made it past the Round of 32. Also, Troy Bell and Craig Smith failed to go to the NCAAs during their one year together. Jared went to the NCAAs all 4 years he was at BC, won ACC POY, and had a trip to the Sweet 16. And if JJ doesn't go nuts in the final few minutes of the ACC tourney, Jared would have had an ACC title as well.

And I forgot, you can add the 2005 Big East Regular Season Championship to Jared's resume.

Turns out, I thought he had better college numbers too.

I don’t know how this turned into a bash JC or a JRob isn’t that good thread. Kid can ball. Had JRob stayed I think many would agree BC would be a top 25 team.

I’ve been critical of Christian but he gets massive props in recruiting JRob when no other power 5 wanted him and developing him into a lottery pick. Also, helped having Bowman which gave BC some support and one of the best back courts in the country.

Sorry, I don’t see it with JRob. There is a lengthy list of guys—spelled out elsewhere in this thread—who had better results at BC and/or made their respective teams much better. For me it isn’t even the atrocious defense—in today’s NBA that isn’t much of a handicap. It is an overall lack of toughness and effort and watching him fold too many times where I think an”lottery pick” who have stepped up and carried the team.

Now the conclusion rests upon the premise that win-loss record is important in determining a player's draft position. I suspect the correlation is statistically indistinguishable from 0

I suspect you’d be wrong from a statiscal model standpoint. I would be willing to bet a substantial amount of money that the overwhelming majority of lottery picks play on successful college basketball teams. I think that result would largely be the result of the fact that a player with lottery pick-level talent is usually far superior at the game of basketball then the players he is competing against and thus provides his team with an on court advantage. And while I believe Jim Christian is a mediocre at best coach, BC is no longer bereft of talent on its roster and I would think that if JRob were actually destined for a successful NBA career, even with mediocre coaching BC could have done better than the utterly shittastic results of the last two years.

Funishment most probably agree with you but have learned long ago it’s not worth arguing with TRE. When he talks sports it’s either a meatbomb in disguise or an attempt to rile up the gullible. He succeeded.

Overwhelmingly, lottery picks are freshman who were the top high school players in the nation the year before. And those players usually go to successful college programs. J Rob is pretty much the exception this year - upperclassman, not a top recruit when he was choosing college, played for a mediocre team.

So to the first point, Dick's right. The 2nd point is to be seen.
