Next Year Lineup/Rotation

We were having this discussion on some thread, but next year's team looks good... so lets start imagining now?

Nice smallball:

Ky Bowman
Robinson
Chatman
Hamilton
Steffon Mitchell

Probably what it'll be:
Bowman
Robinson
Hamilton
Mitchell
Pop

Would be nice:
Bowman
Robinson
Hamilton
Hawkins
Pop

With- Luka, Chatman, Mitchell, Tabbs, Baker off the bench

Post 9.8 earthquake with few survivors:
Avery Wilson
Vin Baker Jr
Meznieks
John Cahill
The guy from Harvard who could shoot

The “Would be Nice” lineup has promise.

Those top two lineups will go some variation of 6-12 in the ACC.

Yeah I wonder if Hawkins will be here next year.. I mean he should, but it takes a while to file a 6th year redshirt, and who knows if administration will get them in on time

going to move this here from the nit thread

so the limit for scholarships is 13, next year we have:

SR (3): Robinson, Chatman, Mez
JR (4): Reyes, Bowman, Pop, Hamilton
SO (4): Steff, VBJ, Luka, Wilson
FR (2): Hamilton, Tabbs

so if someone new is coming, then someone is leaving

do you mean in addition to bowman and jrob, or did you not factor them in your math for some reason?

They don't need a PG. They'll be fine with Bowman and his turnovers. And if he improves in that area he might actually be able to leave early next year.

AST TO Min Min/TO
Bowman 165 112 1337 11.9
Robinson 116 96 1260 13.1
Popovic 45 66 911 13.8
Mitchell 72 37 1128 30.5
Chatman 54 28 1250 44.6
Kraljevic 16 24 290 12.1
Reyes 6 24 355 14.8
Hawkins 8 18 225 12.5

Bowman turns the ball over a lot, but he also makes plays happen. Popovic is actually much more of a turnover machine.

EDIT: The chart is barely readable but you get the point.

If Popovic were a PG, he would be relevant to the discussion. Bowman turns the ball over way too ofter for a PG, which was the point. But they can live with it, which was my point.

An Assist:Turnover ratio of 1.47 is really bad. He makes terrible decisions with the basketball.

Popovic is irrelevant for this discussion.

I guess my point was as a team, they ALL turn the ball over a lot and everybody needs to improve. The players with the ball in their hands the most (Bowman/Robinson) are going to have the most TO. And as was stated, I guess we can live with it from Bowman.

Hey, I got a question. Is Jim Christian still going to be the coach of this team next year? What's that you say? Yes? Okay. Next year they will definitely have a chance to advance deeper in the NIT. Awesome!

pop, for all the garbage he takes from the fanbase, put up 12-7 and shot 54% over the last 11 games (I know, arbitrary endpoints). I'd sign up for that next year

Agreed, but you still can't win games when you PG is committing games with 7 and 8 TOs.

I like Ky Bowman as a player, but not as a PG.

hey micro - this is the guy that says coaching isn't important in the ncaas. you might as well have a detailed discussion with me about sports games and their intricacies and nuances or knowspace about charity stripe and down-town shooting percentages for all the knowledge you're going to get in return out of ol' emptychair.

Bowman needs to play PG for as long as Jrob is here. They are too good on the floor together to substitute in a true point guard.

If everyone returns this team can be really good next year.

PG, Bowman, Robinson, Hamilton & Mitchell.

Switch Pop for Mitchell when the other team plays with a big man (most don't).

Let Bowman do what he does best (attack the basket) without having to handle the ball and make decisions.

The next step for Popovic is to become a better athlete. He's an easy 15-10 player if he improved his athleticism.

That lineup would get killed in ACC play. I like Mitchell, but he shouldn't be guarding an ACC 5 (Ryan Anderson says hello).

Bowman at PG isn't the problem. Look at last 10 years and tell me one BC player you'd rather start at PG over Bowman...

Past PG starters are:
Carter - not a true point guard and not even a remotely good player
Hanlan - good player, but bad PG; I'll take Bowman over him
Jordan Daniels - True PG, I actually liked him more than most on here. He had a good handle on the ball and a player like him could provide solid minutes off the bench at point to give our guards rest, but he'd have no business starting on the current BC team
Biko Paris - meh, better PG but overall I'd still rather have Bowman play PG.

How many teams in the ACC have a 5? BCs best lineup this year was with Hawkins and Mitchell together at the 4-5.

All those PGs led BC to various 10-22 records.

The whole "empty chair" argument is sideways stupid, but a wet Def Leppard t-shirt could coach the most optimistic lineup of Bowman-Robinson-Hamilton-Mitchell-Hawkins to an NCAA 4-seed. Good coaching brings that to the elite 8. Plus Pop, Chatman, Tabbs, Luka, Reyes, older Hamilton? You're looking at the best team since '06-'07.
