Yup

it was created by at least two different "sources." one of the sources claimed to know a guy that knew a guy that said that jay had traveled up here to visit with leahy. the other source was teddy who was just making shit up.

when asked about it directly, jay said "boston college is the better academic school" and left it at that... but the tone was clear that he didn't think much of our sports programs or our motherfuckin snakes on our motherfuckin plane

Honestly just an okay hire for NC State as Keatts/UNCW got thoroughly outcoached by Tony Bennett in that first round game. Had 'em where they wanted them and blew it.

Won't argue with you on Underwood - I bet UofI tears it up in the near future. But it's a zero-sum game that leaves OK State decimated. Of course, they'll open up the checkbook for the next guy, which is the difference between Stillwater and Chestnut Hill.

I missed the UVA game, but watched a few Keatts/UNCW games this season and he seems like a sound coach who can recruit. Even if he was out-coached by Bennett, one game against one of the best coaches in the nation is not a great indicator for Keatts' whole body of work. I maintain it was a really good hire for the puppies. We will see next year when Keatts and JC match up though.

RE: OK State opening up the checkbook, Underwood was only making 1 million this season so I don't know. That said, OK State did buy out TJ Ford for 3.9 million but BC has bought out coaches in the past as well...

http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/o ... 1006d.html

True on Keatts working the NC area and being a solid recruiter. Fact of the matter is NCST had issues with coaching, not recruiting, and getting a guy who can do both would be big for them.

And good call on Ford (Travis, not TJ the point guard) - didn't realize they were only paying Underwood $1M. Sounds like Illinois is giving him $18M for 6 years...

He wanted the BC job badly when we hired Christian. Fogler steered BC away because he never was a head coach (and Hopkins wasn't paying Fogler like Jimmy Mac was). After BC passed, he got the Coach-in-waiting title at Cuse. That said, the bloom is off the rose a little with him. He was pretty terrible when Boeheim was out last year and they gave him the reigns. Nice guy, though. Definitely would have been a better choice for BC.

Tyler Lydon going to NBA
Dennis Smith Jr. already left

I think next year is a bit of an opportunity for BC as the conference should be substantially weaker than it was this year.

Pitt, Syracuse are losing almost everyone
NC State might lose a lot of people too
Duke, Carolina, and Florida State will still be good but not as good
Clemson and probably Wake will lose their best player

I'm sure the rest of the ACC is saying that they can take advantage of BC with Bowman going pro as well.

He's back, baby!

I am mildly intrigued to see how terrible the NBA jokes get from 12 months of usage if they are already this bad

When I see "Bowthagoras" and yogurt jokes, I'll know we're plumbing the depths

BC's season will depend on the development of Sagay, Reyes and whatever freshman they bring in. I have reasonable confidence in what I'm getting out of the 3 guards, Turner and Pop.

Chatman needs to get in the gym and improve his athleticism. Would make a world of difference

I need to see the roster before I make that prediction.

Also need to see if they're willing to move Bowman off the ball. Actual PG, Bowman, JRob, 4 and Pop with Chatman, Turner, Reyes and whatever the heck else is kicking around has promise.

This team is going nowhere with Bowman as the PG.

Not trying to be snarky here, just genuinely interested in why would you need to see this roster before acknowledging that the team isn't likely to take major strides next year? This group wasn't even close to being competitive this year. Most games they would get down 20+ before making some kind of stat padding, token run at the end to close the gap a bit.

That said, I am curious as to what miracle you are hoping for. No solid transfer will come here making it extremely likely that Bowman will have to be on the ball, baring a last minute, diamond in the rough recruit. Furthermore, this group has no ACC starting caliber 3 or 4 man on the roster, they lack depth at the 5 and have no true scoring option off the bench. Throw in the defensive inabilities of Robinson, Pop and whoever is going to play the 4 and this team is going to be just like the last two years, awful.

A lot changes from year to year in college basketball and it's possible Bowman and Popovic take a huge leap this off season.

I need to see the roster. If they close with the Euro kid, Ondigo, Mark Smith and a 5th year PF that played at a P5 school, they could make a jump. A jump being like 7 ACC wins.

I hope and pray that they can build a roster like you said, make a huge leap, and we can keep Jim Christian.

But what in the recent history of BC Basketball would portend any more than ONE of those above roster additions happening?

That was no "rumor" - it was very real.

In today's Inquirer he was asked about his future at Villanova and responded:
"I love it here. When people talk to you about a job, it's flattering. We all like to feel like we're wanted. But honestly, I'd like it better if it wouldn't happen because I know I don't want to go. I love it here. I'm very happy here and I plan to be staying at Villanova."

It's obvious he is dying to get out and take on a new challenge. He's ready to make the move north.

I think that if he didn't just win a national championship, he might be inclined to leave. But at this point, I could see him finishing his career there....

UVA should be forced to leave the ACC after the offensive performance they put on in that loss to Florida.

17 points at halftime

Irregardless of their tournament results, Reuter would make a ton of sense fit wise here, 6'8/250 power forward with good offers out of HS and local. 5pts/3rbs in 13 min per game, Not eye popping stats but would be a body that this program could really use

Regardless of his numbers at GW, he'd be useful in the fact that he's 6'8" and 250 lbs. Kind of a dumb decision by him going to GW, he would've played 30 minutes a night here this season.
