Maybe Sagay is getting over some sort of nagging minor thing which explains the lack of work in the scrimmage, Nicholls and UMES, but otherwise I have no idea how Jim Christian was evaluating his options, noting he wants to play fast with athletes to cover for some undersized-ness, while also seemingly having the common sense to know this is not a group that will be competing for the post-season in any shape or form, and then decides his rotation at the 4 to start was going to be "Tava until he gets in foul trouble, then Owens until he gets in foul trouble, and then then go with some lineup that has a PG, Robinson, Turner and Jordan Chatman in it."

I'll take the inevitable 0-18 if we get some run/development from Sagay/Pop/Reyes who look like they have some chance of ACC-level ability, which is nice to say about a frontcourt 3some who should be together for 4 years. I'm 99% sure Jeffers doesn't once he faces guys who can outjump him and outsize him by significant margins, and 100% sure Tava (is it REALLY pronounced "tay-vee" as the ESPN3 announcers say it? Weird) doesn't.

Just on limited viewing so far, I think you can combine building toward the future by gaining experience with putting your best lineup on the floor to win a little now.

That said, he's going to play Jeffers and Tava, so if Sagay is playing, he's going 11 deep most nights.

Towson is a slightly more upscale variety of crap than the garden variety crap we've played against thus far. We're on upset alert Tuesday night.

longdistanceeagle - If you're out there, please put a bug in Tava's ear that he should start eating every meal at Chipotle. Thanks.

Starting lineup looks like it should be:

Turner
Robinson
Jeffers
Graves
Sagay - he should get 19 minutes a game

coming off the bench (in order):
Popovic - 17-18 minutes a game
Chatman - 14 mins
Tava - 13 mins
Reyes - 8-9 mins

the rest shouldn't see time unless it is garbage time

The idea that Sagay should start already and Owens not play at all while Tava gets minutes is dumb. Sagay needs minutes, but not starters minutes. Gun, jumped.

And where the fuck is Bowman, he isn't leaving early for the NBA, but he should play over half of those guys.

Apparently the staff does read this board. BUMP! :ace

Saw the Stony Brook game and watched the Towson game on ESPN3.

I don't like Chatman at all, outside of he can hit FTs.

Reyes is RAIL thin, he'll get bodied constantly.

Jeffers is avg.

Tava is a surprise, but I guess I'll get to see him play again tmw nite in Bklyn. Dunno how he'll be able to handle the avg ACC frontcourt.

There's a few players that are fun to watch, but this team has had problems holding leads when they're up big (like 20 against SB). Guards will be ok, but our frontcourt is a mess, irrespective of how well Popovic plays.

When you play Pitt, and your PF depth chart reads Tava, Owens, Mezinkas, good things will not happen

all you need to know about jimmy mac in year 4:

Coach Christian said after the game, "Ervins has earned the right to see more minutes right now."

Is this year 3 or year 4? Isn't it 3?

The PF depth chart is unacceptable. This team has good top end talent, but the drop off after that is awful.

I am less annoyed about where the program is than I am where it will be. Where's the fucking power forward? Where's the point guard. This class needed both.

They need an instant impact PF, a backup center (if JC Reyes can't find his way off the bench still he isn't the answer) and another guard.

I still think they need an upgrade on the wing as well, as JC is discovering Turner isn't very good.

Turner is very good, he's just meek. He's also the only guy that plays defense. But yes, it is a huge disappointment that his talent has resulted in only 9/3.7/3.3. That said, he's not remotely close to the problem.

Turner is at the bottom of the list of issues but he is still wildly disappointing. Bowman and Robinson make no attempt at all to play defense it looks like the NBA out there most nights. Our big men don't have the height or athletic ability to do so

You guys can have your laughs but I guarantee Robinson and Bowman both ask the committee for an evaluation. I would be shocked if either gets a round 1 evaluation so you would THINK both would be back

Neither one of those two idiots is close to nba ready right now. Marcus Smart with no defense.

I'm quite confident that either player could make the D-League right now. Dennis Clifford is a D-League all star.

Keep laughing, slugger.
