BCMurt09 {l Wrote}:t astonishes me sometimes how little some of my friends and BC acquaintances know about the state of our sports programs. Most seem to think the teams are stuck in stasis from when they left the school. Ideally, this article will get those fans to realize the state of athletics today and get them to pick up the banner that we, as the lunatic fringe, have been carrying for so long.

Generally, there was nothing in there that surprised me. The race aspect seemed unnecessary but whatever. But I expected it to be preaching to the choir here. We'll see what happens next.

Basketball wise they've lost an entire decade of alums due to their sucktitude. I can think of maybe 1 person my year that gives a shit, let alone attends a game. the last time this program went to the tourney was 7 years ago let alone won a tourney game (9 years ago). for a p5 program that's absurd.

idk, Providence hasn't won a first round game in about 20 years and people still show up in large numbers for the most part. I think it can be turned around relatively quick from a fan perspective, if only because people are starving for something. Basketball is just a different animal than football which I think is much easier to bring back fans because of the nature of games (once a week on weekends, tailgating aspect, etc)

You're right. We spend a stupid amount of time on an Internet message board talking about BC sports and then when the Major Boston newspaper writes an article about the athletic department for the first time in years, it means no one should give a fuck.

I respek your BC fandom, but you're an incurable blowhard.

of course winning cures all so if Christian turns into john wooden we'll be fine.

maybe it's different because basketball is the 3rd sport at BC whereas it is the first sport at PC (hockey really has only come on the last 3ish seasons under an amazing coach). also, the roonies are now in their 4th straight year of making a post season tourney.

this would have some merit if the football support wasn't also in the toilet. our fans suck but more importantly, our students suck. if even your peers don't support you, how welcome do you feel and therefore how interested are you in being a part of the experience (or lack thereof)

Didn't the new baseball field get approved years ago? Have they actually broken ground on that yet?

Was just listening to 98.5 in the car and they spent quite a bit of time rehashing the Holher story. Don't know the two clowns hosting the show, all they added to what's already been said is they want BC to be successful so they can root against us in the NCAA's and bowl games.

I heard this, too. It was Marc Bertrand and Scott Zolak.

True, but even he admitted he can't bring himself to root against BC right now. This shocked me.
