We're going to have to clicking on all cylinders (smart shot selection, hitting the offensive boards, no cheap fouls, good free throw shooting, and decent officiating in a very hostile environment). I think there's a good and bad version of this team and haven't seen a lot of in between performances.

I'm thinking more about effort than anything this team has quit on their coach at minimum of 3 times this season already

Being in Maryland, I haven't seen any games in person this year and have only been able to catch several either on TV or streaming on the web. So I generally have to rely on reports that are, unfortunately, less than complete or accurate. I know there have been some pitiful performances. Is this a matter of attitude, lack of respect for the coaches, poor coaching itself, or (probably) a combination of all of these? I've watched BC athletics for some 50 years now and have seen some great years and exceedingly poor years in every sport. The latter generated some of the same comments that I read today about disinterested administration and lack of fiscal committment. Hence, the current situation must go beyond that since we've been able to rebound (bad pun) in the past. Short of some benefactor handing over a huge sum of money to rebuild facilities, hire top caliber coaches, etc. how can we get back to a level of acceptability that exceeds mediocrity?

I'm honestly not trying just to be snarky here, but in which of this year's games have we seen a "good version of this team"? Fordham or Harvard? Maybe Duke? (although we did end up losing that one by 20 at home). My (admittedly pessimistic) sense is that this team has been more consistent (in a bad way) than an up and down, Jekyll and Hyde type situation.

In any event, if there truly is a "good version" of this team, I hope very much it shows up tonight.

We are undoubtedly the masters of being bad at basketball, but it's a tribute to Syracuse's considerable-in-its-own-right ability to be bad at basketball as well that this is a 7 point game.
