Quick Question: Providence Game

Postby eepstein0 on Sun Nov 22, 2015 6:36 pm

Has anyone been down to see BC play at the DD Center before? I have some vacation time to burn and was considering taking a half day to drive down for the game.

Are the fans miserable? Any decent sports bar around the arena? I went down for the hockey regional but didn't want to screw around with walking around since it was snowing.

Thanks

I'm going down. We can sit together.

Except for Fox Point, Providence is a little dumpy in my opinion, but there are plenty of bars near the DD Center that are good enough.

A particular one you'd recommend?

Also did you just buy through Providence or call BC?

It will be a zoo for that game, this will be PCs Super Bowl. Trinity Brewhouse is across the street from the Dunk, but it's generally slammed. I think there's a Shulas next to dunk and down the street a few bars/restaurants closer to mall area that may be less crowded like Luxe Burger Bar and Union Station Brewery (both near the Marriot and near Capital Grille as well).

Atwells/Fed Hill is walkable as well to the Dunk.

I'd be surprised if PC fans got that excited for this thing on a Wednesday Night.

Appreciate the restaurants that helps

They will. There is still a certain level of resentment (for some reason) in re: to BC leaving the Big East (despite it resulting in them landing in a league they can finally compete in). The PC beat writers are some of the worst, mentioning it all the time. The PC crowds are still a bunch of old school Italians who will show up in full effect

My senior year (Donahue's last year) we got a couple of buses and went down to the game with a decent crew of students. After we lost (shocker) a drunk Providence kid tried to fight one of us on the bus and then punched the bus window out. He got arrested and the ride home was sufficiently cold

This seems like a good excuse to cozy up to the attractive girls on the bus on the way home.

Editors Note: I haven't been single in so long the above comment may be completely ridiculous.

I'll just go to one of the places he recommended near the DD Center. Just something to kill time really

Can you get wang to photoshop "EO Coaches" on the side of that? That would be awesome.

Providence has a great tradition of supporting the hoop team but it has waned over the past 5-10 years. They are the only show in town, so there is support there. I watched the end of their game with Illinois last week and the place was loud and it affected Illinois performance. Crowd will be into the BC game. Providence has one of the 5-10 best players in the country in Dunn. He is far superior to any player BC has on the roster and will likely be the reason that PC wins.

Cooley is more than capable of giving back the entire advantage Dunn provides. BC will be in that game.

If you zone PC they will stand around and launch NBA range 3s all game. Illinois did that and nearly won.

I went a long time ago, probably 2002 or 2003. The fans were fine, but it was a weekend afternoon game and there were a lot of families with children there. A night game might be different. I went to Trinity Brewhouse after the game and it was decent but very crowded.

I still have the Funnyons, Orange Fanta, chocolate ice cream, and onion dip. I couldn't get Maxx to bite on the offer, but something about you gives me a good feeling. ;)

I forwarded your resume to Kennesaw State's board with the last applicant for that job.
