Stan Heath, former USF and Arkansas HC.

Not terrible, though he BOMBED at USF.

This means he'll fit in great here. As you know, we strive for 2nd place on the recruiting trail.

Just to sooth some people's recruiting thoughts.

He recruited Jason Richardson and Zach Randolph to MSU.
Got Al Jefferson to commit to him at Arkansas before he entered the draft directly out of high school.
He recruited Ronnie Brewer in 2003 to Arkansas.
He recruited Patrick Beverley and Sonny Weems in 2006.
Landed 2 five star recruits in his time at Arkansas.

And even by the end of his time at USF he landed a couple of 4 star commits.

This is a strong hire. I'd imagine a guy like Heath had to have been near the top of the list.

the big winner here is us. BC's basketball team sure, as it shows that we learned from Joe Jones and replaced a departing strong assistant with another. but we here at EO have won because now we know how legit longdistanceeagle is

since longdistanceeagle was spot on about the Heath hire, do we take his prediction of a "5th year transfer PG" (I assume that means Eli Carter) to be a done deal as well

Postby longdistanceeagle on Fri Jun 12, 2015 9:15 am

He believes that the 5th year PG will be happening in the next few weeks. if it happens as he anticipates, you should be happy.

I don't know if bombed is the right word. Had a couple of 20 win seasons but also two rough ones to close out. USF aint exactly a basketball powerhouse.

Heath is a home run hire. I think we might've managed to upgrade from Murphy here which I didn't think was possible.

USF's athletic programs are in disarray. The only person who made lemonade at USF was Seth Greenberg and even that was only for a few years w/ BB Waldon + Altron Jackson.

FWIW, he did recruit Dominique Jones (1st round pick) and transfer Augustus Gilchrist (former top-50 recruit). His USF teams were littered with transfers/5th years, so I'm assuming that his 1st priority is the UF guard.

He also went to a damn Elite 8 at Kent State.

This is a fantastic hire by any grade.

Well he doesn't have New England ties but outside of that he checks all the boxes and this appears to be a very good hire. I will be interested to see what areas he focuses on in recruiting as he has experience in Michigan, Ohio, Arkansas, and Florida.

is it a problem he's more credentialed than jimmy mac? could we have another kevin rogers/halftime haymaker situation?

also, was the mike jarvis xiv just ridiculous speculation or was that actually a thing (albeit briefly)

Jarvis was never under serious consideration. It was pretty much Stan Heath from the beginning. And, no, I am not from Houston.
