What I like about this preview

Postby b0mberMan on Wed Oct 28, 2009 8:59 am

From Fox Sports

"I know that a lot rests on me, but I'm a smarter player now," Sanders said. "I understand the game more, that I can get shots instead of forcing things."

Sanders (12.9 ppg) said he won't be quite so reliant on the deep ball this season, choosing to devote much of the summer to his mid-range game and other facets that will help him become an improved all-around player. He's also learned to be positive with his teammates instead of barking at them and putting his head down.

People got on Sanders alot last year - and I think that's a reflection of how good people expect him to be - but he really did improve some of his weaknesses (free throw shooting, outside shooting) between his frosh and soph year. I think he's got a good head and is a hard worker. I like hearing that he's been working on other parts of the game and hope to see him pick the right spots for the 3-ball. He would rely on it too much at time last year. At 6'5", 245, he needs to go inside and create match up problems.

He's also quoted as saying the team is more defensive minded this year. I hope that's true. It's been a real weakness of the team the last few years.

I think the real nuggett in this article is the quote by Jackson.

""We feel disrespected," BC sophomore guard Reggie Jackson said of the preseason prediction to finish ninth in the ACC. "I'd be lying if I said, 'No.'

"We bring everybody back except for Tyrese (Rice). Sometimes we were great with Tyrese, and sometimes we were better without him."

What it said near the end. If that's true and we keep playing him at the 2, then he needs to go down low. He'll be an absolute matchup nightmare.

I also hope one of the things he worked on was his handle...

"Jackson had 21 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds in the team's intrasquad scrimmage. "

Can't wait to see this kid play this year

Love the numbers for Jackson, but does it say something about our bigs that he had 11 rebounds?

I think it says more about Jackson's athleticism and instincts.

If Reggie works on his handle he could become a triple double machine a la Rajon Rondo. Damn that would be nice.

true, but I wouldn't say reggie's strong point is his shot, at least he has one.

Good article. Encouraging, Rakim has the right attitude, last year was a roller coaster. People should have been tough on him last year, Al certainly was. Glad to see he's taken it to heart.

245?...cripes. He should be doing alot more damage and stop floating around the perimeter.

Reggie is really a scorer, not a pure shooter at all. Total ball of energy, causes chaos, non-stop motor and completely reckless in a good way, no concern for getting hurt. Should be everyone's favorite player by the end of the season. His rebounds are usually opportunistic hustle plays. Put his motor and physical recklessness inside of Rakim's body and you'd have a superstar.

Not sure if 245 on him is a good thing.

Reggie Jackson is going to be the best "energy" player BC has had since Ryan Sidney.

Reggie plays with a lot of passion. Couple that with his pure athleticism and skill and he's a force to reckon with. I was always excited when he stepped onto the court last year.

I can seek Rakim turning into a better version of Sean Marshall.

Sometimes? They were always better without that ballhoggong POS.

Rakim has been better than Marshall since the day he stepped onto campus
