Boston College 8's weekly suggestion of the 2015 starting lineup

Postby Boston College 8 on Thu Mar 19, 2015 9:24 pm

If Hanlan comes back, and we get some transfers, recruits

OLIVIER HANLAN
5TH YEAR TRANSFER
AJ TURNER
IDRISSA DIALLO
DENNIS CLIFFORD

GARLAND OWENS
WILL MAGARITY
5TH YEAR
MATT MILON
DARRYL HICKS
SHAWNTREZ DAVIS
JEROME ROBINSON

what do people think?

Despite the bizarre posting style, I think this is a reasonable guess, although Shawntrez Davis is a long shot, and I am sure the staff would love a grad transfer PF in addition to a guard.

I'd suggest that Milon may be the starter at SG.

you think Milon will start as a frosh? i was thinking they would get a 5th year transfer for shooting guard and milon would play like 15 minutes off the bench

it's become obvious that Matt Milon is better than his recruiting rating. he will play more than 15 minutes, that's for sure.

If they get a transfer it will be s big and if he is good enough to start he will bump that stiff Clifford down.

Cornell transfer Shonn Miller met with UConn, Illinois, & Boston College on Thursday and Michigan yesterday, per source. Eligible next year.

that would be a great addition. I'd imagine if a kid from Cornell wanted to go to a school on that list, it'd be BC.

IDRISSA DIALLO
DENNIS CLIFFORD

BENCH:
GARLAND OWENS
WILL MAGARITY

Boston College 8 do you think Hanlan will go to the NBA? Also what makes you believe Clifford will be the starting center next year? What are your opinions on the merits on Lonnie Jackson and Ryan Anderson?

I'm all for the discussion but you're not adding any value.

Do some research or something about next year and add some of your own opinion.

Clifford and Diallo are not playing together for foul and awful offense reasons.

I don't know if this is our best strategy but if the "2 towers" approach is our best defense, you can run some junk offense predicated around the big men setting screens and then crashing the boards. I only halfway trust Magarity to shoot jumpers and I don't trust either of the other 2, so defenses would probably catch on quickly and sag way down, creating another set of problems. If we don't add another rebounding forward somehow, we might have to play 2 big men at once.

so you are going to make it less dumb by posting the same shit several times?

seriously, how does your posting a forecasted starting line up in several threads make this place less dumb? how does your posting a question about whether hanlan goes early to the nba in several threads (while ignoring the threads this is already being discussed) make this place less dumb.

i think the reality here is that you are dumb. you are also likely a jerk. there, now i am more like nc state (an acc program).

The staff wants to play 4 out and 1 in. Based on that, I can't see those two playing at the same time.

Note to BC8 feel free to add something to this substantive discussion.

In truth, without knowing what the final roster is, I just have no idea

heres some content for everyone.

i remember when diallo committed his high school coach said he was playing the 4 and could be the starter his freshman year. that is why i put him as the starting power forward. what other option do we have next year can you tell me that?

clifford starting at the 5 cause why not, he had a solid year and him as a 5th year playing 20 minutes a game isn't bad

so if clifford and diallo are not playing together give me your starting 5. exactly. we have no power forwards have you even looked at our roster.

hopefully we get a 5th year transfer which i think we will and they can split time with diallo at the 4

Hanlan
Milon
Turner
Magerity
Diallo

If we get a transfer I reserve the right to change this. Milon was one point away from being a 4* player. He won 7a POY in Florida. He's really good.

They need 2 transfers at minimum to avoid another throw away year like last year.

Without a transfer, that is the lineup I would run with as well. Assuming I wanted to play JC's offense.

A decent opposing PF scores 30 on Magerity in that lineup; or would, if he didn't foul out with 15 remaining in the first half.

Solution to let him score 28 on Clifford or 35 on an undersized 4?

Magarity used properly creates as many mismatches as he has forced on him. There aren't many scoring PFs in college basketball anymore, and those that do, do so more from the perimeter.
