Holy Cross Job

Postby eepstein0 on Sun Mar 15, 2015 4:28 pm

Skinner and Spinelli will be in the running.

Could care less about Al but losing Spinelli would be a huge setback for BC. Not sure why Spinelli would want that job but I've heard he'll be in the running

I really would like Al to get the job and see how well he does. I think if he did get the shot he'd probably do well by putting together a good staff and despite playing pick up basketball every day around lunch time he'd get good results.

On a side note, do people view Holy Cross as a rival or is it similar to BU where the lower school views it as a rival but BC fans don't really care.

are you saying we think of bu as a rival but they don't really think much about us?

I would love to see Al get the job, but I don't think they will hire him. They don't want to hire someone BC fired.

I don't know how much Holy Cross is willing to pay but I think Spinelli might take it regardless. Head coaching slots don't come around that often for assistants.

Thought you were going to say that it was Ryan Day's job to lose.*

Where have I heard this story before? New head coach loses recruiting assistant. Has anyone checked the current roster of Niagara GAs?

Al Skinner took Holy Cross off the schedule for a few years because of their physical play. I doubt that went over well with HC and I would be surprised if he were a candidate for a variety of reasons.

Holy Cross does a great job hiring guys like this, they've proven they can do well on the lower levels of D-1, but they failed when they moved up to the big time. Their best recent success came with Ralph Willard who was in a similar situation.

Sounds like the complaints against Christian.

I would say the difference between the Christian situation at BC and the HC situation is that BC is in an elite conference, and Christian didn't do well at TCU which was his first shot at the big time. He was a good hire in the MAC where he had a proven record of success. I'm not against Christian, I think he made great strides in terms of bringing BC back to the ACC level this year, and I'm more than willing to give him time and prove himself. He wasn't my top choice, but I think a lot of our top choices weren't interested in BC right now.
