Hanlan is staying and they will land one more 2015 and a transfer of some sort. I actually think next season will be better, though they will miss Batten, Brown and Heckmann.

We should probably discuss next year sans Hanlan before making this statement

Eh. I'd rather watch a team of young, inexperienced actual D1 basketball players lose every game as they get better than watch another year of this team's journey to nowhere

This.

I've seen enough of Drago, Odio, etc & having Caudill eat (puns!) a scholarship

This is where I'm at. I think Owens and Hicks go bye-bye via transfer. BC will go 9-10 deep which is below. BC doesn't need a world beater as a transfer, a good defender who can shoot from the wing is fine.

I bet Owens stays and is the 10th guy/wing defender.

No way is Hicks going to transfer after already sitting out two years in a row. He has been on the bench every game unlike Lonnie who already said he was leaving. Unless he is hanging up the sneaks for good, he will be getting a lot of minutes next year if healthy (and hanlan leaves).

until we know that clifford is 100% i think it's totally believable.

until the redshirt declaration deadline passes, i'm not willing to quit on diallo over clifford as a possibility.

I just watched Dennis Clifford get abused in the frontcourt. If Diallo can walk without falling down, he's better than Clifford. I'm holding out for Clifford declaring for the draft with Hanlan.

Under the terms of our bet, in that scenario neither of us will have a fun signature for a week. Unless one of us decides to make their signature fun voluntarily, which I may do given that I'm wildly unpredictable and I enjoy fun.

I think Diallo could start next year...at the 4, along with starting center Clifford.

I'm on board with this. Clifford gets abused because the next tallest person helping him in the paint is a 6'6" German who's 200 pounds soaking wet or a former volleyball player. Was basically playing 2 on 1 in there yesterday.

that's right, i forgot all your pussified caveats. basically, you can't lose because he would never get an agent and declare for the draft unless the agent had him a guaranteed deal prior to signing with that agent.

this signature bet is boring.

Did you watch any games this year? Clifford got abused because he is soft and rebounds continually clank off his hands. There is no chance Clifford and Diallo start next to each other. 0%.

unhealthy/less than 100%?

I'm sure he's a nice kid but Heckmann isn't the reason he's useless in the paint.

Clifford's return at full strength to is more important to this team than Hanlan's return.

Clifford was at a double disadvantage really ever since Magarity went down but especially in the last 2 games, because 1- he was facing waves of big men more or less by himself and 2- he had to err on the side of caution as foul trouble would have been a complete disaster. So while he got bullied around a bit with GT ripping the ball away from him, I don't think his defense was bad when you temper your expectations. You want to see bad, look at Odio in the UNC game: overcommitting comically to hedge the ballhandler while his man rolled completely open for a dunk at least twice, weak fouls that led to easy 3 point plays, that play where Odio was trying to guard Joel James with his back turned about 4 feet from the basket, etc.

I don't think there's anything more predictable on this site than when anyone says anything remotely positive about Clifford (or heaven forbid, Lonnie Jackson) that one of the usual suspects (list 1) will feel the need to insist that he's terrible, then one of the usual suspects (list 2) will make a joke involving the usage of the phrase "one hundred percent."

Testing my theory: Hey did anyone notice that Clifford's acne cleared up quite a bit over the last four years. Good for him.

(Hint: This is where one of you says "Who cares his complexion is still terrible, marginal America East complexion at best" and then another of you says "It's a shame we never got to see his face at 100%")

I would argue that up until this season, there was nothing more predictable than fears that Hanlan would hit the draft after a good game.

This team is horrible, Corporal. Just don't see the need to pretend there is some glimmer of hope in the present talent, other than the likelihood that Hanlan returns. We were wrong about Clifford.
