Don't pull a Skinner or Donahue...these next two teams are as bad if not worse than UNH/Marist.

This is also early for a conference game for BC. We have two in a row playing Binghamton on Sunday.

That half was less than impressive on D. You shouldn't be giving up 34 to Maine

Hanlan was pretty bad last night and overall the team played like they were playing in front of twenty people (cause they were) against Maine (which they were).

The only things that concern me when playing this tier of opponent is 1) the possibility of a loss; and 2) inability to turn the switch back on against a real opponent. Playing Binghamton on Sunday will probably be a lot like this game. Maybe Hanlan will shoot better, maybe some of the supporting cast won't shoot as well.

Clifford's stat line looks about right for a 7 footer playing against a team with no one over 6'9, but watching the game the offense rarely went through him and defensively I thought he had a pretty rough game despite the blocks. The German guy with goofy hair for Maine (Gloger) was too quick for him and actually had nice touch and for some reason there was no help a fair amount. Magarity didn't play a ton but he didn't play very intelligently when he was in the game and used his size advantage must less effectively. I hope Diallo can move laterally - at all - and play next to one of Clifford or Magarity at times. Even Odio next to Clifford or Magarity might have made this one a rout I think.

Brown is a really good player against bad competition. All the turnover slop goes away when the other team is a step slower. I also would love to see him shoot and drive cleanly like that in ACC play. John Cain Carney could be a 30 minute a game player in the America East.

Batten is still my favorite player. As an aside he may not have eyelids, but it doesn't seem to effect his play negatively.

Why do people like Garland Owens so much again? The dunk was cool and sportscentery, but the terrible fouls though...

CONTENT SIRIUZ!

Seemed like one of those games, like last year, where Hanlan decided 'I'm not shooting'. Frustrating.

That Maine team was terrible.

Clifford might be the slowest off the floor big man in the country besides Caudill. At times, I wish someone would punch him in the face so he'd get angry.

Agreed Batten is my favorite player on the team already.

Imagine where this team would be without Brown?

Any news on Diallo? And at what point do we need to declare his RS (SNARK!) But seriuzly at what stage do we let him get healthy, work on his game, and comeback at full strenght next year?

According to TOS, Diallo should be back end of December beginning of January I think. That leaves the bulk of the ACC schedule.

Clifford seems to a) get punched in the face; and b) get angry about it constantly. I don't think it makes him faster. I think he's frustrating to watch mostly because I think he looks like if he had about 10 years of eligibility he'd end up being Bill Curley, but still an important cog in making this an ~.500 team as opposed to a 5-9 win team.

Clifford is just not that good. He has exactly zero of Bill Curley's myriad low post moves. He's just tall, and decently athletic for a goofy dude.

With ten years of eligibility he might develop post moves.

Its the obvious athleticism and tallness that make him frustrating to watch. I actually think he's smart too and definitely has a good motor, I think his number one issue right now is either upper body or maybe just hands weakness. He has trouble finishing around the basket even with the size advantage and it doesn't seem to be jumping related, he also seems to have trouble holding on to rebounds and sometimes catching passes. In the least likely otherwise comparison I can think of, he reminds me of Nerlins Noel in the NBA right now in this regard.

Well he is older than Noel.

I don't know what the issue is, but when you have that size and athletic ability, even with limited moves you should be able to finish.

Great insight on the board.

Hanlan trying to be a pass first point guard, but needs to be a little selfish on the floor.

Brown and Batten are not shy about shooting.

Team is better than last year, should be 9-3 going into conference play.

The coach chewed into Heckmann when he gave up a backdoor layup.

Meter and Abrams gave Clifford so much love last night that it was embarrassing. They both insinuated that Onahue would not have been fired if Clifford had been healthy. It was Maine, Clifford better have a decent night against Maine. I'm tired of the narrative that Clifford is the glue holding this team together.

9903, I like Owens because he's the most athletic guy on a team severely lacking athleticism. He may never pan out, but I'd rather the coaches try and develop him over playing the older guys on the team who are at their ceiling.

Without Clifford I see this as a <10 win team, unless Diallo is immediately useful, which I don't think he will be but don't know.

This isn't me saying Clifford is a particularly good player, it is simply saying that he takes up space and can move up and down the court, set screens, defend the inbounds (maybe with line stepping) and is occasionally good for a put back and that there is a crater behind him on the roster, Magarity Providence flashes turning into consistency and/or Diallo showing something notwithstanding. Now if he was healthy...

I'm fine with starting Owens and keeping him in the game for the 4.5 minutes he would last before fouling out , there would likely be at least an attempted alley-oop during that period (I think he is ~.900 pts below Beerbohm in alley-oop completion percentage, but it always looks like it should work). Speaking siriuzly, I get that he provides something otherwise lacking from the roster, I just am not optimistic about his progress.
