Just watched UNC lose by 5 to Iowa. That coach actually won a national title at some point? :ace

Duke is up by five at Whiskey and had three frosh on the court at one point.
Duke will beat BC 85-61 this year, same crap, blah, blah, blah.
54-49 with nine and some change left.

He is such a bad coach. When he retires the next coach will win at least two titles with his players.

Watched the first 10 minutes of Louisville / Ohio St two nights ago.

Montrez Harrel against anyone on BC might end worse than Drago trying to cover Jabari last year.

Harrel's max bench press is more than BC's entire team's combined max bench press. He's an athletic Ben Wallace and he's going to score 30 and grab 20 boards vs BC, if Pitino wants him to. If you thought Odio was frightened last year, just wait until he stands next to Harrel. Would love to see the Parade All American come in and foul him hard five times and then go sit down. Five fouls on Harrel and KC has paid off 1K of the 200,000k that he owes BC.

Watched the end of the Witchita State Utah game this morning. Utes pulled off the upset in OT, but everytime I watch Wichita State I like them more and more. It'd be cool if they got a rematch against Kentucky and knocked them out of the NCAAs. That's my hoops fantasy for this year at least.

Why wasn't BC a part of the ACC/Big Ten challenge this year?

Since there are 15 ACC teams and 14 Big Ten teams, I thought the ACC team that finished in last place the year before is the odd team out. BC was 4-14 last year, but VT was 2-16. Shouldn't VT have sat out this year?

We never got confirmation of this, but when the challenge schedule came out last spring, atleagle speculated that BC volunteered to sit out because they wanted as easy a schedule as possible.

I don't think it is the last place team, I think it is chosen on some sort of rotation.

I stand corrected. It is the last place team, but not if it means they would miss it consecutive years.

I read somewhere a while ago that the ACC didn't want to make VT sit out two years in a row, so it made the next worse team (us) sit out this year. Can't remember where I read that so it might be garbage. If true though, it's quite lame and also I doubt the same courtesy would be extended to BC had we finished last twice in a row... although next year's challenge could be a test of the sit-out-twice-in-a-row policy if we finish last in the conference (assuming the policy exists).

I find it hard to believe that the ACC actually has an official policy on this, and if they do, anything written down is just "guidelines."

Hypothetically, a team like UNC could get decimated by injuries and finish in last place, but have the #1 recruiting class the following year. Odds on UNC sitting out ... 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001%

Might be time for St. Joe's to retire Phil Martelli. Local rivalry game against Villanova was over at the tip off for the second year in a row. :ace

Its easy to root against Kentucky but not as easy when you're relying on Roy Williams.

It even looked like UNC was trying (for a half). ND destroyed FSU. I know their coach folds down the stretch each year but they look like a team that could do well in a tournie. :ace

I did not see the ND/FSU game. I am generally dismissive of ND for reasons you have mentioned.

Today I watched UK/UNC, Pitt/St. Bonnie, AZ/Mich and I'm watching UCLA/Gonzaga now. Arizona was the most impressive of the bunch. I think they will be better than last year. Stanley Johnson plays with a passion and explosiveness that Aaron Gordon didn't bring to that team.

Pitt squeaked by an underwhelming Manhattan last night. Should be a low scoring game but I like how we matchup with Pitt.

Northeastern blew a 14 point second half lead to the immortal Cal Poly. Looks like Coen has hit his ceiling with Northeastern. Cal Poly made some adjustments at the half and Coen watched his team fold down the stretch without calling a timeout. Sounds like he learned a lot from Skinner. :whiteflag :ace

Hard to tell if it is parity but Arizona and Louisville had absolute dog fights with 2 not very good C-USA teams. At one stretch Louisville coughed up the ball 7 out of 8 trips down the court but Western Kentucky did nothing with it other than stay within 5 points most of the game and AZ missed almost all of their FTs down the stretch which kept the game close. Side note whatever happened to FT shooting? AZ shot 55% and UTEP was under 50%.

Do we just crown Kentucky today? :ace

Virginia is going to be tough- they destroyed Miami last night. Canes couldn't get the ball inside the three point line
