2014 NBA Draft Thread

Postby BCEagles25 on Mon Jun 23, 2014 3:09 pm

Celtics are projected in the latest ESPN mock to take Embiid. I'm happy about that, but I also wouldn't mind Vonleh.

Questions/Discussion points for you weirdos:
1. Who do you want the Celtics to take at 6?
b. Who are the Cavs taking at 1?
2. #17?
3. How many times will teddy diss the NBA in this thread?
4. scrush2
5. Where will Rakim Sanders go?
6. Where do you think Hanlan might have gone?
7. NBA late 1st/2nd rounder that will surprise?

Considering the C's probably won't be too good next year and Rondo will probably leave, trade him to Sactown for the 8th pick and McLemore and take Randle since they need a shooting guard and two bigs.

I think the Cavs would be fortunate to have Wiggins for his defense and potential, and Parker for his IQ and offense either way. I'd like to say they can't go wrong, but then they'd make me look dumb and draft someone like Aaron Craft. It's Cleveland.

I also think Cleanthony Early will be the surprise player that not many are talking about.

Yeah, but Dennis Clifford will be healthy by then too. Tough decisions ahead for Riles.

Chad Ford:

Reports that Cavs are asking for 3, 10 & 32 from Sixers for No. 1. If Sixers tanked all year for Wiggins, they have to say yes, right?

Philly shouldn't do that deal. They need too much help to put all their eggs in one basket.

yeah, I don't think there's a single player in this draft that could make the Sixers any much better. Taking Exum/Parker/Embiid and/or any of the power forwards (Gordon, Randle, Vonleh) would be a very successful draft.

Granted I watched virtually no nba outside of the finals but why is wiggins considered better than Parker?

Wiggins has more athleticism, wingspan, a higher ceiling, and is already an elite defender. the problem is, he's very passive with the ball. he disappears like Rakim Sanders.

Wiggins to McGrady is a pretty good comparison.

I like Smart, but I wanted the Cs to keep Rondo. I hope it's a 3+ team deal, because I don't like anyone on Sacramento's roster outside Cousins and Thomas. And if they trade for Rudy Gay they will only further alienate me.

I was hoping they'd trade Rondo for the 8th pick and maybe next year's 1st. notice how when Rudy left Toronto, they suddenly became good. (I'm not a Rudy fan either)

There was just a Howard Eisley mention during the draft. Jalen Rose compared Tyler Ennis to Eisley.

Not sure Ennis will ever shoot like Eisley, and I think Ennis is a better ball handler, but that's not bad.

in his defense, I'd rather be compared to Larry Bird than a range of Adam Morrison to Wally Szczerbiak.

Imagine starting a career and having someone set your ceiling optimistically at "Wally Szczerbiak?"
