Same with Mark Schmidt.

I find it hard to believe that Schmidt was offered the job and said no. I don't know if the same can be said about Hopkins, but I tend to lean towards him not being offered either.

Hopkins or Schmidt would have been better hires on a PR side (Hopkins being a successful assistant at a top program and Schmidt being an alum). If Christian was able to do and say the right things to jump ahead of them, that should count for something.

In a normal process, yes. But, remember Christian also had the benefit of Fogler working things from the inside.

BC hoopsters should unionize

Postby MaroonNGold on Mon Apr 07, 2014 4:08 pm

By unionizing, they might negotiate an end to sit out time upon transfer.

That way, they could flee this sinking ship for a school that is both reputable and successful in hoops.

Ryan Anderson Will Transfer

Postby MaroonNGold on Mon Apr 07, 2014 7:11 pm

Smart move, Ryan.

Now let's hope that Cain Carney, Sam Donahue and Perpiglia don't follow suit!

At this rate, each male in the class of '18 will get a basketball uniform at Orientation.

Timing of this announcement has the effect of upstaging today's intro of JC.

Wonder if this was intended.

Eaglekeeper {l Wrote}:Not hiring Calhoun after Williams left was the single biggest blunder in the history of BC athletics, by a long shot. UConn and their fans have always loved bball and they made the right moves and got the job done much like the BC hockey program. There was a time no to long ago when neither UConn hoops or BC hockey could win anything, now they have won a combined 8 national titles and counting in 15 years making New England proud.

The major blunder now most important is the refusal to pursue Calhoun's recent overture.

The reason: anger over his TRUE criticism over the deceptive way they left the BE.

ANOTHER reason we need a new captain of this sinking ship.

Who will replace Christian?

Postby MaroonNGold on Tue Apr 08, 2014 6:15 am

If BB is wise, by now he's learned that we have long ago EARNED the name Behead Coaches Institute.

So, he'll begin searching for our next coach.

Time is not on his side, given all attending circumstances.

Therefore, two things are immediately in order:

1. In fairness, advise Christian to rent, not buy.

2. Get on Greyhound and speed down to Pottsdown, PA, where the Beer League has some standout coaches.

Kudos to UCONN

Postby MaroonNGold on Tue Apr 08, 2014 6:30 am

Boo to those typically mean spirited ogres who bemoan UConn's win last night.

Congrats are due all at Storrs for their impressive march through the NCAAs.

They, along with Providence and Harvard, show that New England does produce excellent college basketball.

Well done, Coach Ollie and Huskies!

The smart move if you like college hoops

Make Conte an empty warehouse this winter, and buy season tix at Harvard or Providence.

Either way, you'll see quality college hoops.

Men for Others

Postby MaroonNGold on Fri Apr 18, 2014 5:20 pm

Anderson and Rahon did not merely hear the "men for others" credo that BC says it promotes; they practiced it, to their credit.

By wisely bailing on a horrid program and tainted school, they did a favor to other high schools hoopsters out west (or anywhere else, for that matter) by showing that coming here would be a mistake, for many reasons.

Hopefully, when kids see that not one but 2 co-captains were so disgusted by what goes on here that they are willing to sit out a year in order to play at a school that is reputable and committed to basketball, they will scratch BC and look at the many schools that would serve them better.

Hats off to Ryan and Joe for not merely doing what's best for themselves, but for also caring enough for others to save them from a costly error.

The title of this thread sounds like a bar we'd fine DGF spending a Saturday night.

As for bannings, only the pussies on EA call for the silencing of dissenting opinions (well them, Obama and the black community). Like it or not, MNG was more fucking on with regard to who we'd hire than most. Like it or not, there is some truth behind his complaints of Leahy.

MNG is not a "fake" account.

There is literally some crazed older alum who actually talks this way.

He used to post in the Boston.com college sports forums. For a long time there was a bug in the application where your signature could be an unlimited number of characters. His sig ended up being about 900 lines long, made up of a list of folks who would be better Presidents than Leahy, most of which were famius in the 80s: Donald Trump, Jesse Jackson, Joan Rivers, etc. Each time he posted, it would cause a new page to be created because his signature was so long. Looney Tunes.

Not to mention being the world's biggest TOB apologist.
