Beeker and Al should do a video series next season, where they sit in barcaloungers in Al's basement and break down BC basketball games - a basketball centric mix of Beavis and butthead, Siskel and Ebert, and Joe Bob Briggs drive in theater.

I'm a bit hesitant to post this, but here goes.

I'm a recent transplant to Boston, so I've taken an interest in the local team. I graduated a while back from Texas and still have a lot of friends down in the Austin area who work at the University. Rumor has it that Rick Barnes sees the writing on the wall at the UT and Myles Turner (stud C recruit from down there) is starting to look elsewhere. There is a lot of growing dissent among higher level boosters with Barnes not making a decent tournament run since 07-08 and Turner getting away could be the last straw with many of them in the support of Barnes. According to a friend who works in the AD, Barnes has been contacted by BC and minimally preliminary discussions have taken place that could lead him to BC. Not saying its a sure thing, but apparently Barnes is considering pulling a Buzz Williams and taking a paycut for more job security. He has ties to the East Coast and would be a slam dunk hire for BC. Will be interesting to see how this plays out, but I'll keep you guys informed.

full disclosure: I'm not a Barnes fan because I think UT can do better

...or add in the Conte Ghost and Unicorn Man and have it like Mystery Science Theater.

Rick Barnes is fine with me if the Wright thing falls through.

What if Wright is coming to BC and taking Joe Jones back from BU? Jim Christian is going to be the next head coach at BU, which explains the transfers out of BU and out of Ohio.

I like your line of thinking, Talon.

Oh and to the UT guy, I'd take barnes in a nanosecond over Jimmy Christian.

I'd be more likely to watch this than BC Basketball.

Rick Barnes is hilarious.

Why is this taking so long? Its not like there's a ton of suitors out there for this guy

I know.

Wright wants Jones. BU doesn't want to give up Jones. BC says to BU "let us have Jones back, and we'll use our consultant Folger to find you a replacement." When Folger remembers that his client Jim Christian is a BU grad, it works out perfectly.

We appreciate and welcome your support. If/when you come to campus for a game, do not expect anything remotely close to what you experienced at UT.

hookem could refer to both a fan of the longhorns OR a fan of fishing

i find this an interesting fact when mixed with the inactivity of tfbbs
now in the street there is violence
and, and a lots of work to be done
no place to hang out our washing
and, and i can't blame all on the sun
good god we gonna rock down to electric avenue

Its all about assistants. Barnes would need to surround himself with recruiters, but he has some name credibility that will get his foot into the door with solid players. But his coaching tree is decently impressive and sometimes a change of scenery does amazing things.

I'm heading out for a while, will pop back in periodically.

I have had dealings with the guy who is Texas's AD (I can't give any more deets without risking the off chance of blowing my cover). He's a sports business guy, not a sports guy (in that his mandate is make more money, not have the best coach if that person is ho-hum), so I could see him having no qualms letting Barnes go with there shot of bringing in a new guy to placate the boosters, generate some excitement for whatever TV-related stuff they're pulling together at UT.
That said, I think it's likelier Al Skinner returns than this Branes scenario.
