We'll never know. Build a practice basketball facility and we can find out if it helps recruiting.

If you think Don or Jimmy Mac were a BB facility away from being a great coach at BC, there is no need to engage in conversations regarding the program.

They weren’t becoming Coach K sure. They might’ve been functional though.

Donahue had no clue what kind of athletes it would take to win at a high D1 program, so facilities had nothing to do it. As far as JC goes, he may have been able to get better recruits, but I doubt he would've been able to win enough for it to make any difference.

Would be a very nice get for us, especially at the 4 where we could use someone when Steff graduates.

Spinelli was the lead recruiter. No shock there. Hope his contract runs longer than JC's.

Dude can definitely recruit. Besides offering playing time, I wouldn't know where to start selling BC to kids. Been able to find a fee diamonds in the rough to.

Why is it on this board that the recruiting buck stops at the head coach's desk only when we lose a recruiting battle?

interview with boston.com

https://www.boston.com/sports/college-s ... ssion=true

BDC: How did you decide on Boston College, and how much did proximity to home factor into your decision?

GT: It’s great that it’s close to home, but that wasn’t why I chose it. It being close to home doesn’t mean it’s the right fit. I got along with the coaches, I loved the way they play. I’ve seen them play a lot. I’ve been there and I’m very familiar. I felt like if there’s anyone that’s going to try to develop me into the player I want to be, and that I can help, that it would be them.

I would think seeing BC play a lot wouldn't be a positive lately

Getting Joseph or Carter Whitt would be huge for the program. Would be absolutely stacked at ball handlers and wings for 21-22.

Would Christian take advantage of that stacking? He hasn't shown that, has he?

With so much supposed depth amongst the ball handlers and wings, and relative weakness up front, maybe Christian should commit to the press. But that would take a true commitment to teaching & practicing the nuanced defensive principles necessary to make it work, and Christian has never shown himself to be much interested in defense.

Apparently Joseph is announcing Monday at noon, per Twitter. The nerds on 24/7 have him pegged for Miami, and for all the crap they deservedly get, they are probably right more often than not. Let's hope they screwed this one up though.

We got some time to work on the front court. Hopefully we will have Gianni, Vander Baan and Felder all for 21-22, plus we may have to wait until then for Karnik. Add in some combo of another freshman and 5th year big and we may have something cooking.

As far as JC coaching a talented team, we really dont know. The most talented team he had was the year with Hawkins and he lasted only a handful of games. We were left with children up front (Steff was a baby still and hadnt filled out and this was the year before Pop busted out) and a stand still 3pt shooter who has the skills of a 10 year old girl everywhere else. It may sound like I'm defending JC but I'm not. He puts the roster together so ultimately it's all his fault. He probably sucks with a talented roster also but we have no way to know.

I'm not sure the press would work in the ACC or in modern basketball. Seems like guys 1-5 can all dribble the days and have the skills to break a press, especially if a team knows we do it and practices against it.

Miami seems like a better fit for Joseph tbh - does he really want to join a crowded backcourt with Tabbs and Heath for his first two years? I feel like he wants to run the show, and at certain schools he can. I don't think that's the case at BC.

Contrast with Thompson, who should contribute immediately because of the position he plays. I feel like we will have difficulty getting a decent guard this year vs. guys in the frontcourt who know minutes will be there (the whole Christian thing notwithstanding).

Whitt is the prototypical UVA player who will piss us off for four years.
