On the surface this seems helpful. Can you provide some sort of scouting report?

He's a 6'5" guard so he has good size, the BYU fans seemed to think he was helpful defensively so there's one plus. Offensively looks like he's mostly a spot up in the corner type of guy and he hit 34% of his threes, which is not great but it's not bad either. Doesn't seem to have been asked to do much ballhandling. The stats are underwhelming but he also went 3 years between playing in high school and his redshirt freshman year at BYU, and BYU was better than us last year so there's some excuse. My guess is he gives you 15 minutes a game off the bench, unless Graves/Bowman are both not ready and Robinson is forced to play a lot of point guard. Also doesn't seem to have any SBT-esque punch the kids in the nose and urinate in the holy water and stomp on Ms. Glanville's daffodils issues...which is a benefit of poaching kids from a Mormon school.

Thank you again Long Distance Eagle, all of us but the Salt Queen appreciate your info. And Bernie for confirming. And me, for great guesses. But not, by any means, Eagle 9903, who stinks.

Blah blah blah, he's 22 and only saw 10 mpg coming off a red-shirt year despite an obvious size advantage. This concerns me and it should concern the rest of you.

Happy with landing Chatman. He got some playing time on a BYU team that would have annihilated BC last year. He at improves this roster.

If the big is Maurice Jeffers, I will be pleasantly surprised.

LDE, I appreciate your posts.

Purely from a rotation perspective, it avoids John Cahill 2.0 which none of us ever need to witness again.

This is a good move, for better or worse it's Robinson's, Turner's and Graves's team next year. This guy is a good complimentary piece if that scouting report is true.

As an older player and with his background, I'm sure he will bring maturity and leadership to a team lacking both. Although with SBT gone, that helps already.

I am hearing that we may have some good news that some of you might think is bad in the near or long term. My source is the same as the one that told me about Wright so it is reliable.

I am not that bright but can you help me with your last post.

it's good news, but most of think it will be bad both short and long term, or am I reading that wrong. Either way

How soon? Does it relate to the transfer 5 we are all expecting, and if so

what level of impact upon the program are you expecting?

I think, but am not sure that we started here after Tava committed, seemingly in reference to two transfers a five and a four (neither is Chatman who is listed at 6'5 195):

longdistanceeagle {l Wrote}:They are not done recruiting size. There will be a 5th year 5 man and still the possibility of another 4. More good news to come in the weeks ahead. You will be happy, and possibly extremely happy.

Then here he is seemingly referring to two fives and a guy who is sitting therefore not Chatman who is neither a five nor will he sit:

longdistanceeagle {l Wrote}:There is one 5th year 5 man who is likely to come. He's OK. Nobody is buying season tix if he comes, but he will definitely help. The other I cannot really speak about, but if it works out, he would be a major addition, especially with his skill set and how JC would like to play with a talented 5. There is still a possibility of another transfer who would be another major help after he sits. Also cannot say anything else. He is a 3/4.

As recently as June 20th, it appears three players are referenced the first presumably Chatman but maybe not? the second is likely the Delaware guy:

longdistanceeagle {l Wrote}:One announcement could come today, one other later in the summer(5th year), the other I think could be today or in the very near future. None are a question of eligibility.

and then it seems like two again, one of whom is Chatman

longdistanceeagle {l Wrote}:One is a 5th year who will probably start. The other is a more interesting situation. I will only say that he is eligible immediately. He will be a rotational but important part.

In any event, no one is likely to be particularly excited about the BYU guy because of his prior stats and LDE says the 5th year is "OK. Nobody is buying season tix if he comes". I have no idea whether there is supposed to be one more guy or not at this point. Neither of the known/sort of know players since Tava would make anyone "extremely happy" except the funishment because he gets to slob more knob than usual.

Why are you buying CF's scouting report? Has he demonstrated an ability to effectively scout kids in the past? This is a serious question. I want to believe he will help, but I can't find any reason why.

My source doesn't want me to name names but the guy has played basketball at a school that has a basketball program and he was pretty good in high school. He's got a style of play that some fans of the team like and some fans don't like. It will help the team by adding a player to the bench that currently isn't on the roster

My day-of-transfer-announcement Eli Carter scouting report was pretty good...

Make no mistake, Carter is an undersized guard who is going to chuck it early and often. He got up 12 shots per game at Rutgers in 28 minutes per game, and the 3 point percentages aren't especially good for a guy who shoots so many of them. I would bet that Christian's willingness to give him the green light to fire away was the primary determinant in him choosing us over Georgetown.

He was Gatorade POY in Washington. He had an ankle injury that slowed him down last year when I looked.

Again he's a depth piece but it's much better than having to use some walk on

LDE is experiencing the transference of hatred for Bates and each of his terrible hires. The bottom line is that his info has been excellent and better than anything coming out of any other outlet. Now, that isn't particularly a significant threshold... as we all just saw folks who get paid to disseminate information incredibly bungle something as simple as a Twitter handle change. Nonetheless, LDE has been a hell of a lot more accurate than those folks who thought Jay Wright was coming here.

As for the transfers, there is nothing not to like. Sure... neither is a Mickey Ds All American or a game-changer. But, looking at their addition objectively, both are significant upgrades over the Plex walk-on whose roster spot they took. Chapman provides depth, is older and has some potential upside. Jeffers (assuming Bernie is right) is more an immediate need and someone who will likely start and play significant minutes.
