Following the departure of Blake Harris from Montverde Academy (FL), 2016 Boston College commit Ty Graves is transferring, as well.


Not sure I can think of a positive spin to put on this one.

I don't understand how it is positive or negative

Well if you have the guy locked up and committed, no news is good news. Maybe he's angling for a better playing situation, but he could also end up getting more exposure/better offers in the next 15 months. The latter part is a no-win proposition for us.

I understand this concern. It seems like monteverde recruited over him which is kind of a weird situation.

Graves can flat out play.

I'm confused. Ty Graves transfers as a junior to play PG for Montverde. Just as the season starts, super soph Blake Harris transfers to Montverde to play PG. The two split time. After a few months Harris announced that he will be leaving Montverde. Days later, Graves announces that he too will be leaving Montverde.

From a BB perspective, I don't understand Graves' move as the player who he supposedly got recruited over by is no longer going to be eating into his PT. My guess is that this is nothing but a kid realizing that the super-program of Montverde wasn't all it was cracked up to be (resulting him just going home for his final year). From a BC perspective, I would like to see him return to one of his previous schools as academic flags begin to be raised with regard to his transient transcript.

I've seen two games and that kid takes ball hogging to a new level. It's not like he's Hanlan and is surrounded by the America East Allstars either.

Either way I'd imagine he'll transfer back to Greensboro, NC.

Nice shot though and is a big kid for his size. Still need another big man 6-8 or taller for next year whether its a fresh or a fifth year senior.

Agreed. I don't think he'd be an impact player for the first couple of years by any means. If we had a very solid 2-3 big guys already, I would be more than happy to take him for depth, but not at the expense of a roster spot for someone potentially better in this class.

I think his problem is that he is nowhere the 6'6" he is listed to be. Not sure how much he played at Simeon (because he was part of a group that was ruled ineligible due to residency issues). Nonetheless, they listed him at 6'4". He transferred to a post-grad "school" and magically became 6'6". The best that I can tell is that Indiana's "Don Bosco Prep Academy" is nothing but a basketball team who takes a couple of English classes at a local community college.

I sat next to a rather well known local former assistant coach on a plane last year. He mentioned Terrell would exel at BC. Joseph, without getting too far into it, isn't the type of kid you really want in your program unless you're of the Syracuse type. On the court, as long as he still wants to play PG, I'm underwhelmed.

2015 Westland John Glenn center Michael Edwards has patiently waited his turn for attention from colleges. He now has offers from Georgia, Ball State, UC Davis, Eastern Michigan and Northern Illinois."

“It’s rushed (recruitment), as in a short period of time all these colleges are coming at me like crazy,” Edwards, 6-foot-9, 235-pounds, said.

Crazy may be an understatement, take last night’s district quarterfinal game against Taylor Truman for example. Coaches from Nebraska, Arkansas, Michigan, and Georgia were in attendance to check out Edwards. His Rockets took care of business with a 64-46 win and will play Wayne Memorial in the district semis Wednesday night.

“The game went pretty good. 25 points, 21 rebounds, four steals, and three blocks,” Edwards said.

After the game, Georgia extended an offer and Edwards got to speak with Michigan assistant coach, Bacari Alexander.

“We talked for a little bit. He just told me I played well and said how I can rebound better,” Edwards said.

As far as a potential offer from Michigan, “he didn’t say too much about that.”
