I hope Grant/AD is aware that keeping the talented players on the roster will make their lives easier. The problem with the “burn it all down” mentality is that you need good players to win in the ACC. If you start with a few good players, you dont have to recruit as many good players. Its sort of like boiling water from the tap - going to be quicker if you run it hot first instead of trying to boil cold water.

This shouldn’t be new to anyone, but having Heath Mitchell Tabbs (possibly Felder) leave isn’t as “no big deal” as we think

i'm sure eddy didn't recruit him... ol jasper just decided to come here on his own. eddy only said he wouldn't recruit (i assume actively) but wouldn't turn them away either.

The only people wrong all the time on this board didn’t attend Boston College. If I’m wrong, then it’s in reporting... not prognosticating. Subtle differences that drastically change SAT scores. Nonetheless, you can watch the ACC radio interview Grant did to confirm or deny the comments. Wonder if adding Paulsen to his staff gives us any sort of entree with Tre Mitchell or Kellen Grady. Paulsen was extremely well-liked and well respected as a teacher in the A10. Mitchell was a two time All Academic selection in the A10 and Grady went back to Davidson last year to get his degree even after NBA scouts told him to transfer to a P6 to upgrade his competition if he wanted to improve his draft grade (which was mid to late 2nd round after both his sophomore and junior years. We can offer both ample playing time and Grady is from Boston and they are both definitely good ACC starter level talent. Also wonder if he might bring Kolek with him, as Kolek entered the transfer portal. I don’t think Kolek is a starter on a good ACC team, but given his range, I’d think he’d be a good reserve player off the bench. Certainly a big upgrade over Rich Kelly, which is admittedly a low bar. Kolek is also from Rhode Island, which would seem to be another factor in our favor assuming we have an interest.

Paulsen went downhill his last couple of years at Bucknell before he jumped to George Mason. He had a rough first year there, went 20-14 the second year (CBI), and then generally downhill from there to 5th, 12th (17-15 overall), and T-4th his last three years in the A-10. Given his one year in 1989-90 as a Power-6 assistant, makes me think he's there to be a bench coach and not really a recruiter.

Yes, I imagine pretty much everyone will want him. Not too many programs would turn down a guy who is coming back because he is disappointed with a late 2nd round draft projection. But if the whole reason he is coming back is to log a ton of minutes—all reports indicate this is a purely professional move, it’s not motivated by playing for a contender, where is he going to log more minutes than at BC? He would be offensive option #1 and he’d log as many minutes as he could handle.

If we can’t even get a sniff at a kid who is from Boston under such a scenario, then they might as well end this farce of a program tomorrow.
