If the coaching staff pulls off this double play (and they might), I'll be cheering more loudly than you, because I'll know there is a real reason to cheer. To "BE POSITIVE!!", I counterpose, "Keep a grip on reality." It lacks illusory intoxication but offers a much bigger high when something very, very good actually happens - as I can testify from past moments of hoop transcendence. I haven't followed BC basketball for 50+ years to enjoy the specious pleasures of mindless boosterism; I want the program to enjoy genuine success - which may be the greatest illusion of all, but I continue to indulge in it.

P.S. While we've all been venting, BC has put out another 2017 offer, to Donnie Tillman (SF, 6-7, 215), a kid from Detroit currently attending the Findlay Prep factory. Information is sparse, but any kid going to Findlay Prep has to be serious about his game, so I'll happily give them the benefit of the doubt on this one.

P.P.S. More info on Tillman. Rated one of the top five 2017 players in Michigan. Had a good freshman year at Cass Tech in Detroit and an even better AAU season with the Detroit Stars and The Family. Rated a strong rebounder ("super-athletic power forward... who cleans the glass better than Windex"), also a good post/perimeter defender, inside/midrange scorer, and ballhandler. Current offers (besides BC) from Cleveland State, UNLV, and Iowa State, with Michigan, MSU, and Ohio State beginning to take a look. Good student, no academic obstacles to recruiting. Biggest potential problem, of course, is exposure; if he's really good, going to Findlay Prep ensures that every program in D-1 will know about him, and sooner rather than later. Good to see the coaching staff on the ball, because offering ahead of the cavalry charge is a necessity in this case.

McDuffie's BC visit runs through tomorrow; if there's news, it should appear then. Sharma is at Stanford today through Monday; again, all we can do is sit and wait.

i really think we would have a great shot at Sharma but he sees what we already have. we have Diallo Magarity and Clifford. if say we didn't have DIallo and Clifford was a senior i think we would have a MUCHH better shot at Sharma.

I won't panic, but the thought of McDuffie at SMU is still scary. SMU, after all, is LARRY BROWN, the only coach ever to win both the NBA and NCAA championships, and he's already had a home visit with McDuffie's family (although I think our people did too). This is not an easy man to say "no" to, and (like Stanford with Sharma) SMU is getting the advantage of the last word. Panic is never desirable, but it certainly is nail-biting time. What's in our favor is Brown's notorious restlessness, and, at this point, his age (74); McDuffie has to wonder how long he'll be around.
