Just a quick blurb...I can't remember hearing so many offers @ this point with players from 2 different classes. Thanks for the updates, this is by far the best place for BC hoops intel. Hopefully the next batch of recruits will put BC hoops back on the national map for years to come.

This story is getting awfully old: BC offers a relative unknown who then blows up and attracts offers from bigger-name schools. It would be nice to close on someone for a change. At least he says he wants a business degree, which leaves some hope.

A business degree? Good luck prying him away from the Gators! UF is the main pipeline to Wall Street.

Unless you get injured. Then they shut off that pipeline.

Scout posted a great bit on Dingba
http://bostoncollege.scout.com/2/1214110.html.

Apparently he will soon have his list down to five. I really hope he picks BC. The article doesn't give praise to any particular school but it really looks like we have everything he is looking for.
I have faith in Addazio. He brings intense energy to the program, something we desperately need.

If Dingba were to commit, the 2013 recruiting season would be a big success right then and there. He's the kind of kid that Donahue (and, I imagine, every BC fan) wants, his game interfaces wonderfully with the team's needs, and he'd be the best possible launching pad for the 2014 recruiting season. In every respect, Dingba ought to be (as I assume he is) BC's #1 target for 2013. Odd as it may sound, my biggest worry is Harvard; Amaker is selling a brand name that has (however distasteful one may find the fact) an element of magical resonance all over the globe, and Dingba is unquestionably a very serious-minded (and presumably ambitious) young man. Hopefully, BC will recommend itself to him as a more appealing living, working, and playing situation.

I'm gonna guess BC's top 3 are Dingba, Alec Peters and Darryl Renyolds.

Having read the article, if he doesn't come to BC I will be devastated. He doesn't care how many fans are in the stands? Are you kidding me? He's a Conte Forum dream come true.......of course, hopefully by the time he would enroll the fans would have realized that there is something growing here.......

"He is still working on dates for the other two trips," Ruskin explained, "which will be to Boston University, Rhode Island, or Boston College ..."

This is what I was able to extract from the latest Dingba article. If anyone can post the whole thing that would be great (you need a scout.com account) http://saintjosephs.scout.com/a.z?s=439 ... 20654.html

It appears that BC has no high-major competition for Dingba; this has to be an acid test of the coaching staff's recruiting competence. If they can't close the deal in a situation this favorable....

Here's the full article:
A 6'6 forward at Salisbury School (CT), senior Sam Dingba saw his stock rise this summer thanks to a series of impressive performances with the Westchester Hawks. Dingba has trimmed his list now, and has visits planned.

On Tuesday, Hawk Hill Hardwood caught up with Salisbury head coach Jeff Ruskin about Sam Dingba.

Dingba, an exceptional athlete at 6'6, possesses a tremendous motor and a wingspan that allows him to play much bigger than his listed height. At the moment, Dingba has visit dates set for three schools.

Over the coming weekends, Ruskin tells Hawk Hill Hardwood that Dingba will visit Saint Bonaventure, Saint Joseph's, and Quinnipiac.

While those three schools have dates set, there are other schools still very much in the picture. "He is still working on dates for the other two trips," Ruskin explained, "which will be to either Boston University, Rhode Island, or Boston College."

Three of the six schools still under consideration for Dingba are in the Atlantic 10. Last month, Ruskin told Hawk Hill Hardwood that he thought that Sam was "being recruited the hardest by A10 schools." Obviously that hard work has paid off.

Dingba recently visited Saint Joseph's unofficially. Now he will have a chance to visit Hawk Hill on an official visit. The odds indicate that there's a very legitimate chance.

I don't think they have to "close" now as it a appears BC and BU, who were his original ideal visits, may not get visits. I would be fine with a class that is just Darryl Reynolds.

I'm surprised to read that the A-10 schools have been working the hardest on Dingba; this suggests that he's slipped down BC's priority recruiting list. If there's someone else they've taken a shine too, it's most likely Reynolds. He's got hops and he plays hard at both ends. I don't know if he'll become another Craig Smith, but he looks more interesting all the time.

I'll take another tack. The fact that BC's best recruiter, the head coach of BU, likes Dingba makes me believe he's actually better than we think.

Samuel Dingba is a unique basketball player in more ways than one.  It was two years ago that the Cameroon native arrived at Salisbury School, only able to speak his native French.   “When he first got here he could say two things, ‘no problem’ and ‘ok’,” Salisbury head coach Jeff Ruskin recalled.  From a basketball standpoint, he made an immediate impact on the defensive end where his length and instincts made him an immediate presence, but his offense as initially raw.  “I had a tutor that I worked with every day,” Dingba said, “and I get up and get in the gym every morning at 5:30 and then again in the afternoon.”His hard work has paid off both on and off the court as he now speaks fluent English and has done well enough in the classroom to warrant looks from Ivy League Schools.  Basketball wise, he’s now able to shoot the ball with touch from the perimeter and has also evolved into a low post scoring threat.  His approach to his recruiting is similarly unique, as Dingba has very different concerns than most prospects his age. “I’ve told coaches coming in here not to bother talking to him about level or facilities, because he won’t care,” Ruskin said.  “For him, it’s just going to come down to where he believes there are the best people.”After leading Salisbury to consecutive appearances in the NEPSAC Class A final, winning the school’s first title this past season, and then starring on the AAU circuit with the Westchester Hawks, Dingba accumulated approximately 25 division I scholarship offers.  He’s now started the process of trimming that list down and setting up his visits.  He’ll take official visits to St. Joseph’s, St. Bonaventure, and Quinnipiac in the next three weekends and then visit Rhode Island and Boston University in October.  While Dingba has set these five visits, there are still a variety of other schools that continue to pursue him including the likes of Duquesne, Drexel, Siena, Manhattan and Robert Morris according to Ruskin.  Boston College is also still involved.  Yale, Pennsylvania, Harvard and Dartmouth have been involved from the beginning and could potentially get right back into the mix depending on Dingba’s upcoming SAT score.  Dingba said he’s most interested in spending time with his potential teammates on his upcoming visits, especially during the night when the coaching staff isn’t around, but not for the reasons that most 18 year olds might.  “I want to see how the team hangs out during the night, see if they’re great teammates,” Dingba said of his upcoming visits.  “During the night everything is different.”“I’ve told all the coaches, the worst thing they could do with Samuel is to take him out and try to party with him,” Ruskin said.  Just another reason why Samuel Dingba is a truly unique and special person, both on and off the basketball court.
