Tebbutt apparently down to Washington State and BC

Postby BCEaglesFan on Wed Apr 11, 2012 3:04 pm

I can't read the article but in the archives it said that he was down to BC and WSU: http://washingtonstate.scout.com/a.z?s= ... 76380.html

Can someone post it for me please?

Edit: never mind, posted

Jordan Tebbutt, (6-4, 205) who played his senior season for national champion Oak Hill Academy in Virginia after starring for three years at Horizon Christian in Tualatin, Ore., has made two official visits according to Oak Hill coach Steve Smith.

In March, Tebbutt took a visit to Boston College, before spending last weekend with his parents in Pullman touring Washington State’s campus.

Tebbutt also made an unofficial visit to Kansas last fall.

“He told me he wasn’t ready to make a decision yet, and he wasn’t sure when he was going to,” Smith said.
Smith said to his knowledge, Tebbutt has yet to set up any other visits. He believes Tebbutt is most serious about Washington State and Boston College.

“He’s going through the process a little slower than most,” Smith said.

Tebbutt has been variously projected as both a guard and small forward.

Maxpumps gave him a 4 out of 5 star recruiting rating. I couldn't find any Oak Hill stats on him? Did anyone else find anything?

Looks like they already signed 3 players that will be playing similar positions as him. If he signs with BC he might be the day 1 starter at SF.

I think 2 of the recruits have academic problems.

How in the world does a person end up trying to decide between Washington State and BC? If a waiter comes to take his dinner order, does he have a hard time deciding between a wedge salad and a banana split?

Remember, Tebbutt comes from a small town in Oregon; Pullman, Washington might not look so unattractive to him as it does to all us jaded urban sophisticates.

There are jaded urban sophisticates here?

If you've been following HJS set up to crash down strategy it means BC basketball is doomed to failure for all time. Otherwise, its just bad.

Again forgive me, but isn't he a 2 guard for 2012? Don't we have enough 2/3s?

Don't we have leads on big men which is obviously a more pressing need?

Or are we looking at taking possibly 4 for 2012 (2 we signed + Tebbutt + big)?

Depends on which agenda you're pushing. If you want the loss of Tebbutt to be program killing, he's the second coming of Craig Smith at 6'5 220something. He would definitely add an element they don't have though. He is a loss. I'd rather have him than the kid from ND and definitely more than the kid from Iona.

At this point, perhaps we should just move the argument to the recruiting thread, since it's spilling over into discussion of transfers (and, by the way, I hoped that everyone would understand that "all us jaded urban sophisticates" was ironic).

I can. I'm tired of explaining why. It's not because of doubts about your ability to assess talent relative to any other fan who watched a guy play twice, although I have those also. It's more akin to that time you declared Ryan Anderson couldn't play in the ACC in November.

Who says Tebbutt even was recruited by BC. To my knowledge, Steve Donahue has offered only TWO schollies for the incoming class of 2012... one to Joe Rahon and one to Olivier Hanlan. Thankfully, they both excepted. Name another coach that has 100% recruiting rate. Christ... even John Calipari missed out on one (Shabazz Muhammad).

9903 doesn't believe in Rivals profiles. The only thing you can PROVE is that BC has offered Joe Rahon and Olivier Hanlan. Just because a kid or a coach says something to a glorified blogger doesn't make it so. They could all be in cahoots against BC.

Are we relying on Rivals profiles now? because they don't show an offer for Kris Dunn, which I thought was kind of a big deal in your argument because:

you earlier today wrote:Kris Dunn was the most talked about player over the Spring and Summer. I believe at one point people were hyperventillating over a visit he was scheduling. Just because he ultimately chose a school we could never hope to compete against (Providence), doesn't mean he wasn't an option for the staff. Clearly, you have your own subjective view of what counts as BC having interest and what doesn't.
