Coach crawley of BC women's hoops resigns due to health reasons.

Whats in the water up there? Was she sleeping with Coach Rogers? Inquiring minds want to know

Was not surprised until I read the reason. Ho-lee-shit.

The only explanation is that this strategy has worked brilliantly for Gene, so now he's going to use it again and again. Buy their silence with an NDA, then stand behind the privacy thing when questioned by the media. This way, Gene never looks like the bad guy and there are no concerns of first hand accounts leaking to the press.

Questions for Gene - How does Jim Calhoun manage to get cancer and spinal stenosis treated without having to leave his job, yet two BC coaches, neither with the job security of Jim Calhoun, have resigned to have "non-life threatening" conditions treated in the past seven months?

Rogers you can kind of, sort of understand the lies. But why not just say Crawley wasn't a very good basketball coach?

This is very different because Rogers did not RESIGN due to his health issue (privacy please).

Does anyone else think the "health reason" excuse was a big eff you to the fans calling for his head? It's almost like undeniable proof that he can do anything he wants and what his detractors in the media and alumni say "doesn't matter."

I have to agree with homojs on this.

"We are very fortunate to have Sylvia Crawley leading our women's basketball program," Director of Athletics Gene DeFilippo said. "She is an outstanding recruiter and teacher and has done an outstanding job in her first two seasons. The future of our program is very bright, and this contract extension is very much deserved."
Letting Mike Milbury quit as coach just destroyed BC Hockey forever. BC should just put hockey out of its misery nobody is ever going to topple BU rather than bother with another washed up alum.-TWBALLGAME9 (Letter to Eagleaction Magazine June 1994)

GDF is right. It doesn't matter, not in the least. The local media lets GDF get away with it.

Supposedly Hartford's Rizzotti and BU's Greenberg are candidates.

Considering Spaz's search was national and it didn't extend beyond Chestnut Hill, I have to consider this one an international search

Well, we are kind of limited in our recruiting area because of the Atlantic Ocean.

Not that anyone cares about women's basketball, but BC could be an elite program with the right coach. The northeast is loaded with talent and BC is a very appealing school on the women's circuit.

As you said, not like I give a shit but what was her problem? IIRC TagRyche would constantly tout each recruiting class as top 25, she can't coach?

I also recall much blouse pounding over recruiting classes under Crawley. Poor evaluation of recruits, inability to coach, poor player development, inability to hold onto players, all of the above?

Her classes were well regarded but she wasn't much of a coach. A bunch of her recruits have left and gone on to good careers at other schools. I guess she was lacking in the personality department too.

For Gene, the "right coach" is someone who will work for cheap, not have sex with their own players and will stay completely off the radar. Winning is nothing he cares about because it is nothing that Leahy cares about and is something the BOT is too scared to care about. Winning just breeds attention and expectations... all of which are things GDF actively tries to avoid.
