Yeah, I'd agree. Without trying to rip on the current group, because I really think they are good kids and solid representatives of the Alma Mater, I think that's a quality that is sorely lacking...

Ben Howland isn't coming to BC. It's a $ issue

Is this your opinion or something you've heard?

If BC hires Amaker I will be inconsolable. Teddy is right, he'll land recruits, but he couldn't make the tournament once in 6 years at Michigan. You have to try to be that bad at UM.

Yes, perhaps I'm being unfair. After all, it took the current coach 8 years to make the tournament with his last team and he still got hired.

Been meaning to ask this - How the fuck did GDF accrue so much power? This is unbelievable. Did he dictate the terms of his compensation, too?

I giggled at the idea that the asshat has secret sources who he meets in dark parking garages, and every time they just say "He stinks. He's not ACC caliber."

Howland is not out of BC's price range. They will pay enough. It won't be 2-million, but BC is a good job for him, and while there will be some demand, I am not sure how much.

BC is a great job if it is open at the end of the year in a ton of ways, not the least of which is the number of scholarships open the following season.

Pearl was on ESPNU College Basketball Podcast today.

They asked him what he thought of Auburn when he was coach of Tennessee ...

He said he thought Auburn was a private school, expensive and hard to get into. An "Ivy League of the South." Because he thought it was a private school with very good academics, the school was never a threat because they could never compete.

Revealing, but not only for how Pearl would regard, a fortiori, BC's prospects. It also cleverly is a statement to Auburn that, if you want to win, don't even think of opposing any admissions requirements to my recruiting -- as low as those requirements might be in any case.

I had no idea Auburn was a good school academically. I watch their football program with the Cam Newton's of the world, Bo Jackson, and just figured thaey were like all of the rest of the trashy SEC schools. Am I wrong?

No, you're pretty much right. It's like any other large state school. I think they might have some veterinary school or something that is particularly good, but that's about it.

It's funny how people think that a state school without the name of the state in the title isn't a state school. Auburn, Clemson, Purdue, Rutgers ...
