As one of the first to question Donahue's ability to recruit ACC level athletes and to place proper emphasis on defense, I can say quite emphatically that most other posters really didn't come around until well after TRE returned.

I'm too lazy to go back and find it but game 1 against UNH I proclaimed Donahue had recruited one or two ACC level players.

See below

On December 15, 2013 eepstein0 {l Wrote}: Lonnie Jackson is easily the best on ball defender in the ACC this season, probably of all time. The athleticism of KC Caudill means we don't need to worry about Clifford's knee, which will definitely recover fully in time for the ACC schedule. Also Magarity is a paint defending intimidator. I love the Captain and his assistants are totally D1 level and not fat at all.

the way i remember it

people questioned his recruiting THEN
he hired joe jones and posters essed his dee
joe jones got some people to put bc on their top 5 list and posters started buying tickets to the final four
joe jones took the bu job but people were at matinees and yoga classes and figured donahue would be alright because clifford was tall and would never get hurt and caudill had a sweet ass beard
donahue whistled a lot and called time outs and posters pointed out how active he was on the bench and therefore MUST be better than al skinner
eepstein wnet back to making fun of talent much like he did with skinner, jags, york, etc. no one paid attention
i pointed out that donahue still lost games, still couldn't control the clock, still couldn't get the ball in bounds and still couldn't win. i asked what made him better than skinner
murt banned me and deleted all my posts
huang started posting more because he figured people would forget that he kissed my weener
some other stuff happened that showed donahue was not good at coaching basketball
posters continued to don their bathrobes and carrot costumes in support of the sinking titanic
murt unbanned me and i asked what was so different between spaz (consensus "FIRE HIM" started during the middle of his first acc game) and donahue ("Wwhhurre awl wwee gowwweengh tuh mweeet gnu") and was reminded that i don't like sports
i stopped liking sports and went back to snark and meatbombing
donahue was fired and the board couldn't wait for him to "pack yer bags"
thee end

I was a skinner guy. Thought he had earned another year. Believe HJS agreed. And we were both lukewarm on Beeker, though I still think he knows offense.

the donahue hire smacked of "no one could be worse than tom o'brien" followed by hiring spaz (see what i did there - i skipped the jags years just like the athletic department does)

i really hope christian can coach at this level

I was a Skinner guy... still am. Thought he earned at least another year. However, once he was fired, not gonna lie, I was very happy about Don being the choice. Thought he was a great "fit"... thought he could coach. The big concern in my mind was his ability to coach. Those fears were allayed once he hired a strong staff.

However, I was immediately off the bandwagon after he kept back-filling the staff (essentially resulting in Nat Graham rising to top assistant (from 3rd) in 10 months). For the record... I didn't like the Christian hire and still don't. I'm glad that Christian hired good assistants, but let's see what happens when he loses one or two (once bitten, twice shy).

I would also like to point out that you are a bit of debbie downer by nature and you have yet to recognize or appreciate any of Addazio's strengths as a coach. I believe you focus on his second year at Temple and discourage any excitement around his coaching/recruiting abilities.

in fairness to me, i also point out what a turd the second game of this season was as well.

the usc game was great and all but not having personnel that are able to throw and/or catch a forward pass will come back to haunt us again this year and all you 10-2 w3ird0z are going to jump off buildings

just like when clifford wears street clothes and knee braces for the majority of the 2014/2015 basketball season

or when jim christian proves that he doesn't just LOOK like a high school jv basketball coach, he also COACHES like one (i can say this because jim christian looks like my high school jv basketabll coach looked when i was in high school)

I don't need them to go 10-2. 6-6 works. 5-7, just okay. Suspect that 7-5 is most likely, even accounting for the Pitt game.

I'm not sure except for Clemson or FSU our inability to complete a pass matters. USC was well aware of that. 37 points later

Adam Finkelstein‏@AdamFinkelstein·2h
ESPN 100 big man @NMHbasketball Josh Sharma has set his visits: BC this weekend; Stanford Oct 18-20; already visited Wisconsin last January

Let's hope we get a commitment from Sharma while he's on campus! And let's hope Falzon doesn't commit anywhere else while he's on campus! These two are very much so the top two remaining targets for the staff.

pretty sure they have other targets besides sharma and falzon...those are just the top 2. They need at least 5 players in this class regardless. The way things are going, I'm optimistic we'll get 1 of the 2.

sharma

falzon

i think we only take 5 people this class, no more, then fill up 2 5th year transfers a year and i think well be balanced,

im excited for this year i think we go like 16-14 or even better, the whole team is changing kind of like the football team did and that is going to be a couple more wins
