Did your sources ever indicate that Jay Wright's sons or at least one son goes to Boston College? That was a lie/rumor that made its way to me. :ace

No, never heard that other than the people that asked the question on here.

Emergency list of candidates who would talk the job on a moment's notice that are better than Jim Christian:

Tim O'Shea
Bill Coen
Al Skinner
Joe Jones
Pat Skerry
Walter McCarty
Mark Schmidt

Consider this list in lieu of my annual donation (which means I deserve Tower Builder status for the next 6 years).

Jimmy Patsos is still coaching...1 win from CBI championship.

There is a long list better, but with poor facilities, high academic standards, and a history of not paying coaches, you will get more no's than yes'

For what it's worth, I just received an invitation to an April 29 Villanova Law Dean's reception where the headline speaker is Jay Wright. I know that does not mean anything and the invitations were probably printed up two weeks ago, and I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but you have to think that if Wright is staying at Villanova the one big positive is that maybe Lappas is back in the mix. Fingers crossed.

I just saw a panhandler in a BC Starter jacket. If that doesn't sum up the Nexus over the past few weeks, I don't know what does.

Bates has got to know his future is on the line. Despite the recent euphoria over the Daz -- and let's hope there are grounds for continuing it this fall -- recruiting classes in the fifties isn't going to make it in the longer term. This BB hire could be a tipping point. Maybe Bates better go back to the BOT and tell them he needs a lot more money. Pronto.

Bates' future may be on the line after the basketball hire, but if you are suggesting that anything about the football hire is a negative in his column, I could not possibly disagree more. Jury is always out, but after one season and one recruiting cycle, the football hire was a grand slam. One crappy hoop hire could certainly erase this, but to portray it as tenuous because of Daz and his recruiting class seems absurd.

For Bates' future to be on the line, people would have to care. If the process has us interviewing 49-year old, career MAC coaches who make $425k, it is a clear signal that no one does.

I heard they asked him if he would ever leave BC for the Duke job when Ratface retires, and he got so excited he blue himself right then and there. They had a little mess on their hands.

This is a pretty article for Blauds.
http://ajerseyguy.com/?p=9981

For the record, if the choice really came down to Dooley and Christian, I don't think it is much of a decision... you take the guy who can recruit. That said, since we are swimming in the shallow-end of the pool, I don't see any reason why you wouldn't throw Joe Jones into the mix (except for the apparent mandate from the BOT/Leahy to not interview any minority candidates).

based on the fact that mo.j. has mentioned the name of any person that has coached basketball at any level (and then shit all over them), i do not think this is possible

I've heard that its Wright, and it makes sense given the delay in getting it done, but it wouldn't surprise me if they fall back to Howland.
