54% from 2, 0% from 3
Good job on the offensive boards.

His numbers are Corey Raji-esque.

He seems to have played equally well against good opponents. This is a solid pickup.

Two words for you. Vermont.

I was hoping it'd be "maplesyrup" as one word cause that shit is good and you said I was only getting two words.

Yeah, Trap's nice, though. I hope he doesn't blindly huck threes at the rate he did last year.

Looks good to me. He put up good numbers against Seton Hall and a few other bigger schools. Plus, I'll take all the 6'7" athletic guys we can find.

If Raji played at Monmouth, don't you think he'd average 18 and 7 instead of 11 and 6? As long as the guy plays hard and knows how to play defense, I'll take him at this point. The thing that sticks out to me is that he turns the ball over a lot.

i didn't really focus on points and assists/turnovers... i've been trying to calculate his vorp

Taylor's VORP = Better than Tyler Roche.

If you handle the ball a lot you're going to turn the ball over a lot. Seems like he was the #1 option on his team so it sort of goes with the territory.

roche is gone. he cannot be factored into vorp.

i thought you were a stats guy

The stench of Tyler Roche will linger for decades...he'll never be truly gone...

Is this new kid going to have to sit out a year first? Or can he walk right in and play this year? I'm assuming he's sitting for 2010.

Monmouth is micro-major. However, we are in need of kids with a pulse. Justice Reinquist's grandson is going to be serious minutes for us in 2011/12 if we don't make a move like this. We are at a stage where we literally cannot field a freaking team. ANYONE is better than no one at this stage.

Including the 2 transfers AND the 2 verbals for 2011 (Odio and Clifford), we STILL have FIVE EFFING SCHOLLIES AVAILABLE.

Hopefully 2 of them go to Shaquille Thomas and Naadir Tharpe.

Those need to be filled with some size. Aside from Clifford, there isn't a single center or power forward on that roster.

Donahue is doing a GREAT job - piling up the recruits and transfres - holding basketball camps to make BC relevant again in New England....its not his fault the former coach left him a steaming pile of shit.

Interesting article on Taylor I saw on the Soaring to Glory blog:

http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/college/ ... rF3lXgVg2M

Some interesting insight:

Hard to believe they’re talking about a player who is in just his fourth year of organized basketball. As a high school freshman and sophomore, Taylor attended St. James Prep in Newark, a school with only a startup program. It wasn’t until he transferred to Union High that he truly took off. As a senior, he averaged 15.9 points, 12.7 rebounds and led the Farmers to a 21-8 record.

This may be a reason why he ended up in Monmouth. Excited to see what one year of coaching from Stevie D does for him!

great points, he is still real raw. wait till he gets a year of practice with a good coach like stevie d.
think he is going to be a real good one for us. dont think that there is a lot of drop off from the
star and go to players on micro or mid majors to the good (not star) players in the ACC like a raji

Yes, that redshirt year will be good for him. Even if he doesn't pan out, it's still a smart, low-risk move.
