It's official

I never understood why guys would leave TV once they got into it. They don't have to do jack; no one expects anything of them; they get free ties and suits.

Compared to big time coach salaries not even close.

I am on the record for saying that I think Lavin will be a homerun for SJU. :duchE :ace

It's been so long since he coached but if I remember he was fired for recruiting like a madman and not delivering, right?

Was it just that UCLA's expectations are insanely high?

I thought I heard his players openly talked about how much they disliked him. Maybe I made that up.

i will refute your on record by saying i think lavin will be a hoMO for sju

I think Lavin could do ok. He kind of had an odd situation at UCLA becuase he was really supposed to be an interim coach, but won the PAC 10 and made the elite 8 so they kept him. He won 20 or more games 6 stratight years and have 5 sweet 16s and an elite 8. Basically he had one bad year and they fired him so he wasn't given a lot of rope. It will be interesting to see what he can do.

Bomber, Lavin pmakes 70-80K/year on ESPN. Compared to an almost (if not) million dollar salary as a coach is, of course, HUGE.

I can't believe that ESPN's on-air personalities (even the crappy ones) make less than 6 figures.

BC 00, he may make 100K or close to it. Usually the huge salaries are reserved for the bigger named sportscasters. This link is old, but it gives you some idea:
