Because I want to get ahead of the curve and don’t want to be accused of kicking him when he is down, let me start shitting on Venning now, fresh off his having a good game tonight against Loyola. It is unsurprising Fatso had a good night tonight—he is a dominant low tier D1 center. He is a solid mid-major center when he isn’t eating boxes upon boxes of Ho-Hos and Ding Dongs or listening to the stupidity of his halfwit Mother. Unfortunately, he is a fat, stupid and lazy below-replacement level P5 center. What you are seeing right now is as good as it will get. As the season goes on he will, improbably, gain weight and get winded a couple of minutes into the ballgame. And wait until his penchant for trying to double at the top of the key results in merely serviceable guards blowing past him for easy layups or in him picking up 3 quick fouls.

I want to like this team, but JFC it is both abysmally mediocre and unlikeable at the same time.

Vennings barely played against Temple. That should tell you how good he is when he’s struggling to get run on this roster. I don’t think the team is unlikable. But, I do think they are crazy limited from a talent perspective. The native recruits are quite good and can play at the P5 level. However, the transfers in are nowhere near as good as the transfers out. If FB and Hockey are in good hands/fixed… BB will be allowed to flounder in obscurity. If there was an answer, I think BJ would have no issue pulling the trigger. But, there isn’t an answer anywhere. So Grant is safe.

This team isn’t good, but the transfers out weren’t great either. McGlockton was the only real loss. He would have helped this team. Losing Post to graduation was the biggest loss.

Also, TJ Power who everyone wanted to come here is looking terrible in Virginia.

I expect BC to get about 12 total wins this year. Next year I expect NIT. As frustrating as basketball has been for the last 14 years, I think Grant has been better than our last two coaches (though it doesn’t say much).

12 wins out of 30 games is probably good for dead last in the ACC. That should never ever be tolerated but our expectations of what was once a program that routinely won 20+ each year has been lowered. As Ming the Mercilus said to Flash Gordon, "they will be satisfied with less." I'm not saying you are wrong Matt. But the fact that so many people are okay with this, that is what bothers me.

Terrible loss to Dartmouth but I’m not surprised. We have been playing bad teams close. This is not a good BC team. ACC has some other weak teams as well. Still standing by 12 wins this year.

The fact that he has 4 years left is an unconscionably bad decision by our athletic department when they extended him.

We are going to save money and invest in football which is a shame with the money we put into Bball.

For a few years the team was so bad and the Big East opponents so good, we seriously just hoped they could stay within half the score of the other team. Occasionally they couldn't do it, but at least we could justify it with "I mean, Georgetown has Mutumbo" or whatever.

Tonight's game, 1-6 BC vs. 1-6 Virginia, is reminding me of those bad old days, and maybe worse. 41-23 at half!! A 1-6 opponent.

At least we had some good years during that time. The Georgetown game where Curly and Mourning went at it on CBS was epic.

Those were great days before every game was on 1 of 700 channels.
